Are any of you interested in doing some temporary Valentine’s Day phone work? If so, you might be interested to know that Blooms Today is looking for people for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday. The work involves taking orders and helping customers with their inquiries. This is a very short-term job, only running from February 6 to the 16, just in time for the busy Valentine’s Day flower ordering season. However, the pay is very good if you can find time in your schedule to take this on while it lasts!
How much does Blooms Today pay?
You’ll get $15 per hour and commission on top of that if you happen to do any upselling while you’re on the phone (getting people to add to their existing flower orders, etc.) You will also be paid for your training before you actually start working, and the training is done remotely over the phone.
People who are not seasonal independent contractors and work for the company as employees make less than the $15 hourly, but they will qualify for commission on sales.
How do you get paid?
Blooms Today has a direct deposit option, or I believe you can opt for a mailed check.
Who can apply?
Blooms Today posted this info on Craigslist about the job, so this info is taken directly from there for you:
Ideal candidates will have:
-Prior experience as Independent Contractor (must have work-at-home call experience)
-Scheduling availability for a minimum of six (6) hours per day.
-Computer technical skills to join web meetings, set up Instant Messaging account, navigate web-based order entry systems.
-Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively through electronic forums (ie., email, Instant Messaging, etc.).
-Excellent phone manner to assist with customer sales and inquiries.
-Dedicated land line with the ability to disable call waiting and call forwarding (MANDATORY).
Qualified candidates will have:
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-High level of motivation and professional phone manner combined with strong sales skills.
-Secure, private area in home to take inbound sales and customer service calls.
-Work station free from all noise and distractions during your scheduled work shift.
-Highly PC literate and have own PC with reliable internet connection.
-Email account with a professional user name
If you happen to not meet these requirements exactly and would still be interested in the job, there’s no harm in applying anyway. Sometimes companies hire people even when they are not 100 percent qualified.
What about technical requirements?
You will need an up to date computer with a headset and a landline that you can shut all the features off of (no call waiting, forwarding, etc.) You will also have to use the AIM instant messenger. Home Agent Headsets sells the exact equipment you need to make and take calls for Blooms Today.
What about scheduling for Blooms Today?
The job listing says you’ll need to be able to do six hour shifts each day, but no word on how many days in a row you have to work. I am thinking though that since the work is so temporary and lasts for just 10 days total, they might want you to do more than five days in a row.
Does Blooms Today hire for other seasons?
Yes! They also usually hire work at home customer service reps for Mother’s Day and Christmas, two other really busy flower-ordering seasons. If you do a good job during the Valentine’s Day season, they just may ask you back to work during Mother’s Day 🙂
What do people say about Blooms Today?
The feedback overall is pretty good for this company. It seems that everyone who gets the job is really happy to have done so, even though it’s temporary.
How can you apply?
You can visit their official website to get your application in.
