Work from home sales and tech support jobs for Sutherland CloudSource. Pays between $9 and $12 hourly.Sutherland, a reputable company, occasionally hires people for home-based customer service (phone work). They've been around for over 20 years!

Sutherland refers to their work from home program as “CloudSource”. The company is almost always hiring phone reps, so this is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Below, I've shared some info on the work at home jobs with Sutherland CloudSource.

What kind of work do you do at Sutherland CloudSource?

The company hires people to take calls for sales and tech support. Industries the company hires for includes cable/Internet providers, leading gaming platform, retail, software support, as well as 1-800-Flowers.com.

How much does Sutherland pay?

Pay varies based on the program you're hired to support, and some rates are education/experience based as well. They no longer list salaries on their hiring pages, but in the past the range was usually between $8.50 – $12.00/hour. Based on the salaries reported from Glassdoor reviewers, it looks like those pay rates are still relatively accurate. Completion of training is required prior to starting work. Also, Sutherland pays you for training.

Sutherland sends twice monthly payments via either direct deposit or their ADP TotalPay debit card.

What are the requirements to apply?

All programs require employees to have high speed internet service, which they will test up front during the application process.

With some programs, Sutherland CloudSource will provide the necessary equipment, and with other programs the employee will need to provide their own PCs (which Sutherland will test upfront ) and headsets.

A quiet work space is a must.

What is the schedule like at Sutherland?

Part and Full-time hours are available – varying shifts. Most positions require 7 day/week availability. Sutherland has occasional seasonal work as well.

Does Sutherland hire you as an employee?

Yes, which means you do qualify for some benefits, including medical and 401K.

Truly the worst company I have ever worked for. In a nutshell they lie. They lie about your pay, they lie about your schedule and they lie about what the job is really like. The jobs are sales no matter what the ad says and you are solely graded on sales every week. You are trained to do very light, Level 1 Tech Support, but most of the time the IT programs for work @ home are down for tech support and you end up transferring most of those calls. Your primary duty will be to take care of irate customers calling about how they are getting shafted on their cable bill. And they are!! Customers are rude and angry but have every right to be. You learn to break the rules and just give them the credit they want. They feel better, you will be able to get through your day, it works out. No one will say a thing. The IT infrastructure is outdated, painfully slow and crashes often, still they expect you to help customers. It got old really, really quick, especially for $9 an hour. Sutherland is known in the industry as the cheapest outsourcing company. They offer cheap rates to their clients on the backs of their employees. Shady business practices and their reputation in the industry reflects as much. They will keep you just log enough to get in good with their client then ship all the jobs off to the Philippines, Mexico or India, that’s just more money in their pockets. Right now Sutherland is recovering from an epic fail because they sent all of the work @ home jobs for Bright House Networks to Mexico and it was a total disaster. They’ve brought back the jobs here and now they are hiring a whole new crew and it doesn’t seem they are interested in hiring any of the old crew back. They’ve been doing this a long time and they seem to take advantage of the fact that they never have to see you or speak to you face to face. Even in today’s technology you will never see another human face as long as you work there, which after 40 hours+ week after week gets a little weird. Run, Shady, Run!!

Awful company. I cannot stress this highly enough. The company I worked for outsourced the entire work at home department to Sutherland and now a year later, the big move turned into an epic fail and Sutherland lost the contract. More than enough blame to go around.

Anna do you know if they hire in all states? Couldn’t find anything on their website. I am in San Francsico and minimum wage is $11.05. If the pay rate is $8.50 to $9.50 that’s below our minimum.

Do you happen to know if they charge the $45 or thereabouts for a BC, CC and so forth? I’m so tapped right now on paying that, but I’d like to apply to Sutherland if it’ll be free. Thanks.

Victoria, I found out that they do require a background check and the credit check is also a maybe depending on the client you’re answering phones for. As far as whether or not the cost for the BC is on you, I am not sure. But I asked about it on a forum so I’ll let you know what I find out 🙂
