The Massive List of 60 Smartphone Apps That Pay

If you've followed this blog for any length of time, then you know I've been into writing reviews of smartphone apps that reward you with some extra cash for quite some time now.

When I first started out, this was a new trend because smartphones themselves were pretty new, too.

Fast forward to today, almost everyone has a smartphone, and it's safe to say that apps that pay you have become pretty commonplace.

You may know that I love researching ways to make money and creating big, comprehensive lists. So, I thought I'd take on the challenge today and see if I could put together a list of 60 smartphone apps that offer rewards.

And what do you know, I was able to do it!

Bear in mind that pretty much all of these smartphone apps are available for both iOS and Android users. Although, for some of the apps I may have linked just one type of device, but rest assured they are most likely available for both.

Now, it's important to note that not all of these apps are created equal. While I believe all of them are legit, some might be a bit underwhelming while others are totally amazing.

But the one thing you can count on is that every single one of these apps will pay you in some way or another. So go ahead, have fun and best of luck!

Task-Based/Mystery Shopping Apps

The apps listed below are going to pay you to do things like going to stores, snapping pics of displays, answering surveys, and other fun tasks.

It's basically like being a secret shopper, but with your trusty smartphone by your side.

Keep in mind, if you're living in a bustling city or town, you're probably going to have more tasks available to you compared to those of us living in more rural areas.

Shopping Apps – Getting Paid to Buy Groceries

These apps are great if you want to get some real cash back just for buying certain groceries. And some of them will work at places besides grocery stores, too!

You can use the apps below in addition to coupons, and the savings will then seriously add up.

Plus, who doesn't love getting actual money back in their pocket?

For what it's worth, Ibotta is my personal favorite of these apps and the one I've been using for a very, very long time.

More Shopping Apps

The apps below also involve shopping and store products, but they work a little differently than the cash back shopping apps I've listed for you above.

Rewards Apps

These apps are basically like any rewards sites you may use (think Swagbucks and Inbox Dollars), but you can do everything right from your phone.

You can earn some extra cash by doing things like watching videos, filling out offers, taking surveys, playing games, and a lot more.

It's a very easy way to make some money on the side, all from the convenience of your smartphone.

Getting Paid to Try New Apps

These popular apps pay you either in cash or rewards just for downloading and trying out new apps.

So, it's a win-win situation. You get to earn a little for doing something that's probably already fun, while app developers get to show off their awesome new apps to new users.

Taking Surveys

The apps below pay for using your smartphone to give your opinion on various products and services. This is similar to any web-based survey panel you may use.

The only difference is that you're answering the questions from your smartphone. This may actually be more convenient for you, allowing you to participate in surveys more often since you may not be in front of your computer all the time.

Selling Your Stuff

Are you looking to clear out some of your clutter and make some extra cash at the same time? There are a bunch of apps out there that will pay you to sell your stuff!

Whether you've got clothes, electronics, or just about anything else you want to get rid of, these apps make it extremely easy to turn your unwanted items into some extra cash.

Let People Rent Your Car

There are some apps out there that will pay you rent out your car to others for cash.

So if you have a spare car that you don't use very often and you need extra money, these apps make it simple to start earning money by renting out your wheels.

Some people say that fitness and diet-based apps make it a lot easier to stick to their health goals. And when you add money as another incentive, that's even better!

The apps below will pay you in cash or other rewards for sticking to your fitness goals.

Watching Videos

There are a few reputable apps out there that will pay you to watch videos on your phone or tablet.

From funny clips to movie trailers, there's a huge variety of videos to choose from, and you can earn cash or rewards just by watching them.

Taking Photos

Are you someone who loves taking photos with your smartphone? Well, you can actually get paid for those photos.

It might sound too good to be true, but apps below pay you to take photos of pretty much anything. From landscapes to food, there's a huge variety of photo opportunities available, and you can earn cash or rewards just by snapping a few shots.

The apps below are unique in how you use them. They don't fit as well in any of the above categories, so I've just lumped them together here.

  • Honeygain – Earn by sharing your internet.
  • MobileXpression – Get paid for your internet usage data.
  • Upside – Get paid for your gas fill-ups.
  • Nielsen Mobile Panel – Get paid for sharing your device usage data.
  • SeatedRead Review – Get paid for dining out.
  • Freebird – Get paid for taking rides with different ride-hailing services (like Lyft or Uber).
  • Miles – Get paid for every mile you travel.
  • Acorns – Acorns makes it easy to invest your spare change.

As always, I wish you the best of luck if you try any of these smartphone apps that pay. Feel free to comment below and share your experiences using any of these apps with other readers!

  1. I’ve used merchandiser by for a few months and recommend it to everyone. I love the app a lot and the employee’s that contact you to approve the task you requested are amazing! I’ve been paid up to $10 just for 10 min of my time to take a couple pice audits in a store on a product & answer a few questions. I’ve also been paid $15/hr just to restock planting seeds in a stores display. It’s very easy. Use my referral – loriBDR4 & you won’t regret it. They pay you 3 times a month, 1st, 10th, and 20th via PayPal. They state if Paypal doesn’t work for you to email the email listed to discuss other options too. It’s definitely a fantastic app for extra cash.

  2. I use free eats. They send you a text a couple times a week. You click on the ad in the text and you get paid .25 to your paypal. If you use my code we both get $1

  3. Do you have a referral code for Feature Points ? Cuz I would like for you to get some credit or a referral code for any of the ones on the list ?

    • Hi Gary! Thanks for asking! I don’t have it installed on my phone anymore. I had it for a long time, but the app kept crashing and wouldn’t let me open it. I think it may work now that I updated my phone, but I haven’t gotten around to putting it back on. However, if you check this post,, I think some people have left comments there with codes if you want someone to get credit.

      Good luck!

  4. Thank you soooo much for doing this. Your emails and recommendations have been invaluable to me and have helped me to find extra work. I will definitely take a look at these and pass them on to my daughter who is looking to make a bit of extra cash.

  5. I use Google Opinion Rewards. The rewards are several cents. Sometimes anywhere between 10-30 cents a survey. And the surveys are few and far between. You may not get one for a few weeks.

I get them every other day. There is no uptick in surveys if you answer more or less.

    • Also, another neat way to earn money while doing nothing is Screenwise Trends. It’s also from Google. It’s basically an add-on you add to your Chrome browser. I added it to my tablet, phone and desktop browsers.

Basically, you just use chrome. Screenwise records the frequency and pays you up to $3 if you’re using all 3 devices consistently. I forget it’s installed until I get an email about my usage.

I already redeemed a $25 Game Stop reward. And another is on the way. The rewards take several weeks to arrive. But they have lots of rewards to choose from.
