TaskRabbit Review – Flexible Work Doing Odd Jobs

Updated October 19, 2024.

TaskRabbit is a company that first appeared on my radar years ago, and since then it has grown a great deal in popularity.

Basically if you become a “Tasker,” you help out people in your area who need help — in the form of small jobs or “tasks”.

The majority of the work you do probably won't be from home, but it can still be very flexible!

TaskRabbit is open to people in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Monaco.

What kinds of things do you do for people with TaskRabbit?

You might be asked to go pick up someone's groceries, drop off things at the post office, assemble furniture, move/unpack, and possibly even some work you can do from your home like writing or graphic design!

It will all depend on what the Task Poster needs done.

The Task Posters can request help via the mobile app, or online via their computers.

How much is TaskRabbit pay?

The pay rate for different tasks will vary, but checking for an average online I see that most people can earn around $17 hourly.

It's going to vary depending on the type of task, your experience, and of course how well you perform the task.

How and when are TaskRabbits paid?

You will usually get paid on TaskRabbit between 2-4 days after a transaction is processed.

The process goes like this — you submit an invoice to the client. The client's card (which is already on file) will be charged within 24 hours of receipt of your invoice. They may also choose to add a tip during that time frame.

The money will then leave the client's bank account and arrive in your bank account.

Note that of the money you earn, TaskRabbit takes a 15% cut. This is to cover their operating expenses.

Is this an IC or employee position?

Task Rabbit considers you an independent contractor, not an employee of their company.

How do you sign up and become a TaskRabbit?

You'll have to agree to let Task Rabbit run a background check on you for the safety of the Task Posters in the event you are required to meet them in person, and lots of times that is the case with the nature of the work.

Don't worry — Task Posters have to undergo background checks, too, for the same reason.

Note that TaskRabbit also charges a $25 non-refundable registration fee.

What are some TaskRabbit Tasker reviews?

Are people happy doing this work? Many are. It's flexible work that you can do in between other things for extra cash.

However, there are also some negative reviews out there too. A lot of people end up taking tasks that prove to be more complicated than they first thought, for less pay than they deserve.

Reddit has a very informative sub you may want to browse for both Taskers and Task Posters.

My advice if you decide to become a TaskRabbit — be very careful what tasks you bid on.

Make sure that any tasks seem worth the time spent, and try to be mindful of unexpected things that may occur, making the job much more difficult than it seems at first glance.

Also be cautious. Even with background checks in place, the business of meeting up with strangers in person can be risky.

Are You Thinking TaskRabbit May Not Be For You?

If you want something flexible to do outside the home but don't really think TaskRabbit is what you're cut out for, consider driving for DoorDash instead.

With DoorDash, you earn by delivering food orders to people in your area. They are always looking for new drivers to sign up!
