Update 12/6/18 – This company is no longer accepting new workers.
Vocalabs is a company that specializes in customer satisfaction surveys, and they frequently have a need for work from home survey administrators. At this time, Vocalabs is only looking for US-based survey administrators.
What do survey administrators do for Vocalabs? As a survey administrator, you will dial into Vocalabs system and then begin conducting phone calls to people who are recent customers of Vocalab's various clients to conduct customer satisfaction surveys. This is not cold calling since you aren't trying to sell anything. You're just asking people a few basic questions about their customer service experiences. If you've ever had a company call you back after you visited their store or contacted them via phone to see how you felt about the customer service you received, then you are already familiar with these kinds of calls. In addition to making the calls, you also have to fill out a survey accurately detailing the responses you received from the customer so it can be submitted to Vocalabs and you can get paid.
How much do the calls pay? The calls you do for Vocalabs pay $2.50 each. While this may not seem like a lot, it's important to keep in mind that the typical customer satisfaction survey only takes five minutes or less . However, it's not guaranteed that you'll have back to back calls to do. Like many other companies, sometimes Vocalabs will have a lot of work and sometimes they won't. I would recommend having other work on the backburner since you can't be sure Vocalabs will have enough to keep you busy.
When does Vocalabs pay? Vocalabs pays weekly via Paypal.
Is this independent contractor or employee work? You work for Vocalabs as an independent contractor. They will not take taxes out of your pay, so it will be up to you to keep track of what you earn so you can report it when you file your taxes.
What is the schedule like? This is one of those very flexible jobs you can work at anytime you want during the day or evening. There are no set hours you must commit to. Just log in whenever you have time and check to see if Vocalabs has any calls you can work on. As mentioned above, they won't always have work.
What technical equipment do you need? Unfortunately you can't complete these calls with just any type of phone. You need a land line phone that is wired, not cordless. You will also need a personal computer, high speed internet connection, and a quiet place to work where you won't be disturbed by background noise. I know most people use cordless phones now, but remember that corded phones are super cheap and it would probably be worth buying one if you got this job. You can typically find them in the $10 range, give or take a few bucks. You might even be able to find one for a few bucks at a thrift store!
What are the requirements to apply? You need to be fluent in English, authorized to work in the US, and you must have a pleasant speaking voice and demonstrate that you can professionally conduct surveys over the phone.
How does the application process go? When you visit the job listing on their website, you're prompted to click a link that takes you to an online .pdf file that gives you more information on the job. This includes a phone number you can dial where you have to do a voice audition. There's a recording when you dial the number and you just read from the page what to say. If Vocalabs likes your speaking voice and has a need for you to conduct surveys, they will contact you.
Feedback on Vocalabs So far I am not reading anything negative. The people who are doing this seem to be doing it mainly part-time, but they have said they are getting paid and that it's easy work.
Want to apply? You can go here to read more about the job on Vocalab's website and to get started on your application and voice audition. Good luck!
