Unfortunately, that doesn't often mix well with work. Most companies like to keep 9 to 5 business hours like the options listed here and expect their workers to be ready to go at those times, too.

Fortunately, if remote work is what you're looking for, you may find way more options for working at night than you would if you were seeking a job at a brick and mortar company.

In today's post, I'm sharing with you a list of six remote jobs that you should think about if working at night is what you'd prefer to do.

There are many companies out there that promise their customers 24/7 service. And for this reason, they always have a need for customer service representatives (this is a big list of those types of jobs) who can work evening or overnight hours.

These companies may have you handling phone calls, chats, emails, or all three while working at home.

Some types of companies that often promise 24/7 customer support are in the healthcare, tech support, and e-commerce industries.

A handful of companies known for offering overnight or late night hours to customer service representatives include:

AnswerNet – They have openings for customer service agents, sales representatives, software developers, and other corporate roles, with many positions available in both English and bilingual Spanish or French.

Drips – They are a fully remote company with team members working from all over the country, and they offer great benefits including up to 90% of your health insurance premium covered, a 401(k) with employer match, and unlimited PTO. Right now they are hiring for a Production Build Specialist, a Software Technical Support Specialist, and a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, all of which are open to applicants anywhere in the U.S.

Aspira – Seasonal Customer Service Representative. United States (Remote). Part-time, up to 29 hours per week (seasonal/temporary; flexible schedule including evenings and weekends). Answer incoming and outgoing calls to help customers with reservations, permits, purchases, and general questions, follow set steps, document calls, and transfer issues when needed. Pays $15.00 per hour.

Freelance Writing

One of the best things about freelance writing sites like these is that it's usually remote work AND you can work whenever you want as long as you meet your deadlines.

Freelance platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, and Freelancer offer lots of writing opportunities to work with clients worldwide, allowing you to set your own schedule and meet deadlines that fit your night owl lifestyle.

In addition to the freelance platforms listed above, you can try applying with the following sites that are almost always looking for freelance writers:

Textbroker – Read Textbroker Review – Worldwide. Sign up for free, pick writing jobs you want, and get paid. You'll write things like blog posts, product descriptions, and newsletters for clients. Work as much or as little as you want. The better your work, the higher your rating, and the more you can earn.

Writer Access – Worldwide. Sign up and get matched with writing jobs from over 40,000 brands — from small businesses to big-name companies. You go through a quick screening process, and once approved, your pay rate is based on your experience. The more skilled you are, the more you can earn.

Valnet Freelance – United States. If you love pop culture, movies, TV, gaming, or entertainment, Valnet pays freelance writers to cover those topics for some of the web's most popular media sites. Roles vary and pay is not listed, but experience with SEO writing and a knack for timely, engaging content will help you get hired.

Content Remarketing – Write blog posts, articles, product descriptions, and other marketing content for businesses. You'll need writing experience and some subject matter expertise, and you'll submit samples to apply. Pay varies by project and isn't listed publicly.

Transcription

Remote transcription jobs like the ones listed here involve listening to audio files and then accurately typing out what you hear. It is not quite as easy as it sounds — you will need to be patient, a good listener, and have above average typing, spelling, and grammar skills.

That said, you can almost always do transcription work any hour of the day! Similar to the freelance writing jobs listed above, you can work whenever you want provided you are able to meet the deadlines set for the files you receive to transcribe.

Also, many transcription companies will accept beginners to do the work. The ones that accept beginners like the ones listed here don't usually pay as well, but it's a good way to get practice in the industry and determine if transcription is a fit for you.

You'll transcribe audio from legal, law enforcement, and general industries using Microsoft Word. Pay not publicly listed but includes bonuses and incentives; paid regularly. Must have strong typing and word processing skills; Spanish transcriptionists are also welcome to apply.

Daily Transcription – Read Daily Transcription Review – Freelance Transcriptionist. United States, Canada, and native English-speaking countries. Part-time, flexible hours. Virtual Assisting

As businesses expand globally, many entrepreneurs and professionals need virtual assistants who can take care of their admin tasks outside the usual 9-5 business hours.

Virtual assistants do all kinds of things for their clients, including but not limited to managing emails, scheduling appointments, data entry, and even social media management.

This option may be perfect for night owls who are organized, detail-oriented, and enjoy being of help to others. It's also great if you love variety in your work, because you never know what tasks you might be assigned.

There are many students in varying time zones that need academic help! So if you like working outside traditional business hours or at night, tutoring jobs like these might be ideal.

Students almost always need help in English, math, and test prep, so these particular subjects are often in demand for tutors.

There are also many companies that look for English Second Language tutors to help kids or even professional adults in countries outside the US learn the English language.

Social Media Managers & Moderators

As I'm sure you know, social media never sleeps! For this reason, businesses and brands often require 24/7 engagement to respond to messages, weed out offensive content, block/ban problematic users, schedule postings, and even stay up to date on analytics.

Working remotely as a social media manager or moderator doing jobs like these means you may get the opportunity to work late at night doing any or all of the above-mentioned tasks.

The requirements to do this will depend on the company you work for. Some want to know you've got past experience, while others will be more lenient.

Check for openings with the following companies if social media management and moderation interest you:
