If you are interested in remote content moderation jobs, ModSquad is a legitimate company frequently offering these positions.
The people who currently work at home for ModSquad are bound by a very strict non-disclosure agreement, so many of the details you probably want to know regarding the moderation positions aren't available.
But, I've done my best to provide as much information as I can for you so you can decide if this might be something to pursue.
ModSquad operates globally, with opportunities in over 90 countries and supporting more than 50 languages. So, this should be a worldwide remote work opportunity.
What does the job involve?
ModSquad offers roles in customer support, content moderation, community management, and social media.
To summarize, the moderators do actual moderation of chat rooms, message boards, and digital content while the customer service reps use customer relations management systems to assist customers via chat, phone, and tickets submitted via the web or email.
Social media professionals handle all things social media for ModSquad's clients.
So, this is not a guarantee of a non-phone job, although it could be just depending on what you're offered.
What does ModSquad pay?
Because of the NDA, there isn't much information regarding the actual rate online.
According to Glassdoor, the estimated pay for remote content moderation jobs at ModSquad ranges from $18 to $26 per hour, based on 36 salary reports.
Work from home customer support agents at ModSquad earn an estimated total pay ranging from $15 to $19 per hour.
Your actual rate will vary depending on the position you're hired for.
Who is qualified?
If you have any moderation, social media, or customer service experience, you may have a shot at getting in here.
As stated above, ModSquad appears to also be open worldwide, and they made it clear on their “Become a Mod” page that knowing a foreign language is definitely a plus.
If you don't have any of the desired skills, apply anyway! You never know, they may be interested in you. And remember that customer service experience isn't limited to online customer service experience.
Make sure your resume details any work you've ever done (online or offline) that could be considered customer service.
How does scheduling work?
Apparently the ModSquad positions are extremely flexible, and you are free to schedule yourself for time slots that work for you.
So, if you're looking for flexible online jobs, this one should be a fit!
Feedback on the company?
According to Glassdoor, ModSquad has an overall rating of 3.2 out of 5, based on over 700 reviews left anonymously by employees. 59% of employees would recommend working at ModSquad to a friend.
Employee reviews on Glassdoor highlight both positive aspects, such as flexibility and the ability to work from home, and challenges, including variable pay rates and project stability.
Also, some people were upset about the fact that you can get dropped from a project with pretty much no warning. That makes me think that if you get this job, you probably need a work from home side hustle in place just in case something like that happens.
As far as the work is concerned, most people seem to love it. It looks like that — as it is with most things — reviews are mixed.
Want to apply?
ModSquad may or may not need workers at this time, but you can still apply here on their official careers page.
Looking For Even More Legit Remote Jobs?
FlexJobs is one of my favorite sites to use for finding remote jobs and learning about new companies that hire remotely.
Most of what I see there when I check the listings pays well above minimum wage and are known companies.
The great thing about FlexJobs is that they guarantee ALL listings are scam-free. They list hundreds of jobs — all of which are either remote or flexible in nature — five days per week.
There are also no ads on the site!
Because there are no ads, they do charge a membership fee since that is the only way they can see a return on their job-searching efforts.
But it's cheap — you can get access for a few weeks for just $2.95 for 14 full days!
If you sign up and don't like it, it's very easy to cancel right away so you are not billed again. You can do it any point during your 14 days of checking things out.
Go here to check out FlexJobs.
Good luck to you!
