Elevate K-12 Review – Work Remotely as a K-12 Teacher

Working For Elevate K-12

As a teacher for Elevate, you will work remotely doing live sessions for K-12 students. The students you teach will all be together in a brick-and-mortar classroom, so this is not one-on-one teaching.

You will be live-streamed to them on a screen at the front of the room as you teach.

There will be a “classroom assistant” physically in the room with them to help them with their work. But you will not be physically there. You can work from anywhere you have a quiet environment.

Elevate K-12 is hiring for teachers in different subject areas at different times.

How Much Does Elevate K-12 Pay?

The amount you earn as a teacher for Elevate K-12 varies depending on the subject you teach, your certification, and the assignment. Current openings generally advertise pay ranging from about $22 per hour to $42 or more per hour, with some specialized positions paying higher rates.

You're also paid separately for prep and administrative time outside of your live teaching sessions.

Each teaching job description states the rate you will earn per hour.

Note these are independent contractor positions, so no taxes will be taken out of your pay, and there are no benefits.

Are You Qualified?

To teach for Elevate K-12, you must be a U.S.-based, state-certified teacher with an active (not expired) teaching certificate.

Many openings also require a bachelor's degree, certification in the subject area you'll be teaching, and previous classroom teaching experience, particularly for middle and high school positions.

The Schedule

Elevate K-12 only offers part-time hours. They state that most of their teachers work around 20 hours per week, although hours can vary depending on the assignment.

You must have a daily available time block of at least three consecutive hours, Monday through Friday, during school-day hours.

Most assignments follow the traditional August through May school calendar. Summer teaching opportunities are generally not available, although teachers may have access to professional development during the summer months.

Tech Requirements

There is no big long list of extensive requirements. All you need to do the work as an online teacher for Elevate is a desktop or laptop computer with a reliable internet connection and a quiet environment.

Feedback

Elevate K-12 gets a solid 4 stars from Glassdoor. You will definitely want to read through those if you're interested in teaching for this company.

Teachers often praise the flexibility, the ability to work from home, and the opportunity to teach without relocating. Many also appreciate that much of the lesson planning is provided for them.

Some negative reviews mention inconsistent hours, changing assignments, observation requirements, and the fact that these are part-time contractor positions without benefits. As with any company, it's a good idea to read through the most recent employee reviews before applying.
