Legitimate data entry jobs from home do exist, but they are scarce, competitive, and frequently impersonated by scammers. Real employers usually expect accurate typing, attention to detail, and at least some experience with spreadsheets, records, billing, claims, or administrative work.

Data entry was the first thing I looked for when I began searching for work-at-home jobs, too. It sounds simple, and most people like that it is usually non-phone work.

If you would be perfectly content working quietly, entering information, and completing the same types of tasks repeatedly, I understand the appeal.

Some people find that kind of work boring, but others genuinely enjoy knowing exactly what they need to do without spending the day talking to customers.

Below are current remote data entry and data-heavy processing jobs with no application fees. I also included job-search sites, realistic pay information, required skills, equipment, and current scam warnings.

Where You Can Find More Online Data Entry Jobs

Remote data entry listings change constantly and often receive a large number of applications. Check frequently and apply through the employer’s official website whenever you can.

Indeed

Indeed usually has remote data entry, records, billing, and processing jobs. Read each listing carefully because some results labeled “remote” are limited to one state or require occasional office work.

Scammers can also copy real company names and post fake jobs on legitimate job boards. Find the opening on the employer’s own careers page before providing personal information anywhere as a rule of thumb.

FlexJobs

FlexJobs is one of my favorite sites for finding remote jobs and learning about companies that hire from home. It lists data entry, administrative, records, accounting, billing, and other remote positions.

Every listing is screened before it appears, and the site does not contain ads, scams, commission-only positions, or multi-level marketing opportunities. That screening can be especially useful when you are searching for data entry, since scammers use that job title so often.

FlexJobs currently offers 14 days of full access for $2.95.

Go here to search the screened FlexJobs listings.

Official Company and ATS Career Pages

I'm sure you've noticed that many employers publish openings through systems such as Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Breezy HR, and iCIMS.

You can search Google using a job title followed by the name of one of these systems, but always make sure the page belongs to the real employer or its authorized ATS account.

Broaden your search beyond “data entry.” Try terms like records specialist, document processor, claims processor, billing clerk, payment posting, order entry, enrollment processor, and administrative assistant.

Your Quick Guide to Data Entry Jobs From Home

Data entry appeals to people for a reason. You can work quietly at your computer, you usually do not have to spend the day on the phone, and the tasks are often clear and really very repetitive.

The frustrating part is not understanding the work. It is finding real openings before they close and separating legitimate employers from all the scammers promising suspiciously easy money.

That is why I created Your Quick Guide to Data Entry Jobs From Home. I put the information I would want beside me if I were beginning a serious data entry job search today into one downloadable guide.

Inside, you will get:

  • 20 legitimate companies known for hiring people to perform data entry or closely related work from home.
  • Practical instructions for finding more openings instead of depending on one list of jobs that may close.
  • Realistic information about pay, skills, and equipment so you know what employers are likely to expect.
  • Other similar work-at-home options to consider if traditional data entry openings are too scarce.
  • Scam warnings that can help you recognize fake recruiters, fraudulent checks, and suspicious job offers.

The guide does not promise that you will immediately find a job, and the companies will not all be hiring at the same time. But, it gives you more legitimate places to look and a clear plan for continuing your search.

The downloadable guide is just $10!
