Amazon Jobs From Home In The Customer Service Department

Looking to work at home a reputable company that everyone is familiar with? You can often find Amazon jobs from home open in the customer service department.

A while back I wrote a post with a rundown of all the various work from home opportunities Amazon has to offer kind of summing them all up, but I've never done a full review of this particular position.

Note that the customer service positions are usually location-based even though the job — including training — is done entirely from home. I've read that some people are required to attend an in-person orientation after being hired, so that would explain why your location would matter.

The states I see Amazon advertising for workers varies greatly, but it has reached a point where many states are included and it's not as limited as it was before.

What Amazon Jobs From Home Involve

As a customer service rep, you are pretty much helping people who call in via phone or make contact through chat and email with their various customer concerns. However, this is very much a phone position because the job posting states that the majority of people call in. These are typically inbound calls.

Pay Information

They don't list the pay on their job postings anymore. In the past it was usually $10 an hour or more with possibilities for bonuses. According to Glassdoor reviews, the rate seems to range from $10 to $16 hourly.

Someone mentioned in the comments below that your first payment will be via check and after that you can get direct deposit, paid bi-weekly.

Benefits

Because these are employee positions, you will also qualify for some benefits that would include paid time off and an employee discount. Also, there is not much waiting period for the benefits to kick in. Apparently they start soon after you begin working.

I can see from their career benefits page that they do additionally offer 401K and health insurance, but I can't confirm if this applies to all the positions.

Tech Requirements

The list below comes directly from the job posting at Amazon and gives a rundown of what you need in addition to a PC with high speed internet, an analog phone line, and quiet work space:

  • Windows 7 or Windows 8
  • 64-bit Operating System
  • Windows Auto Update
  • Antivirus Software
  • Firewall Activated
  • 5 MB/second or higher download speed Ethernet connection

Qualifications

Amazon wants people who have at least a year of prior customer service experience as well as a high school diploma. You will also have to pass a background check. It does not appear that Amazon makes you submit to a credit check, just the background check.

Schedule Flexibility

Even though you do have a schedule to stick to, Amazon promises that they are flexible and mention that you can sometimes do shift swaps when you need to. They will also try to let you build a schedule that works best for you while also meeting their needs.

This job may require a lot of hours — even for part time work from home, you sometimes have to put in close to 40 hours per week when things are busy.

They do have both full and part time options available on occasion. You should expect to work at least one weekend day fairly regularly.

Training

The training is done from home via a conference call. It can take several weeks to complete and you are paid for it.

Feedback

I've scoured the forums looking for Amazon work from home reviews. I've seen a handful of people at Work Place Like Home claiming to have the job, and I found someone at BabyCenter that mentioned something about it. But the feedback is good!

Here are some direct quotes:

From Work Place Like Home (posted in 2012):

I can say, it is a nice one for sure, I work for them. The only states they hire for work at home (at this point) are Kentucky, Washington, Oregon, Kansas, one of the Dakotas, Delaware, New York and West Virginia. Currently KY is the only one with actual open positions. They are hiring full and part time. If you go to their website, at the bottom you'll see “careers” just put “work at home” in the search box.

The people are fantastic, training is great, benefits start right away and are really good.

From Baby Center (posted Sept. 2013):

I work from home for Amazon. I started in October 2011 and have been promoted 4 times and I love my job. I'm very lucky. The insurance is amazing as well. The day I started was the day my insurance kicked in.

I would also suggest browsing the reviews on Glassdoor.

Getting Started

I can't find much information on the application process. I did read that even if they are not hiring right now, you can still send your resume their way.

Indeed is good to check for the work from home Amazon jobs, or you can search Amazon directly for them.

Note that sometimes there are some discrepancies between the two boards … for example, right now I see the jobs listed on Indeed and they will take you straight to the Amazon application page, but if you search Amazon for the jobs, you will see it says they are no longer posted.

Even though this position is not posted all the time, it may definitely be one to keep tabs on. People who are lucky enough to land the job seem to really love it.

  1. Hi, just wondering if they drug test you for season work from home positions. I’m clean just asking for a friend who just got hired. thanks!

  2. So is it true that on your first check you will be paid for the 1-9 trip in addition to your scheduled hours? Also how hard is it to get hired on permanently after the season is over?

      • I have not started yet. I was hoping to find some answers about the pay from people who have gotten paid already. Is the first check only for a week? Two weeks? Travel pay for I-9? I start Sunday the 23rd

  3. I was hired for seasonal customer service I received my email from Amazon today to click on the scheduling tool to pick a schedule. When I get into the tool there are no schedules . There is nothing to pick from? It’s like a glitch? I don’t know who to contact at Amazon. The email they sent it from is a no-reply? Thanks

Go to that link and at the top right corner there is an email and chat button. The emails I usually wait almost a week to get a reply so I would suggest chat. I have had problems with them as well since they could not resolve my issue. If they can not or will not help you in chat I would suggest emailing this address [email protected]. I think you are only supposed to email them if you can not fix it through the hiring help though. I hope this helps!!

  4. I was hired by amazon a few weeks ago and I completed everything but they never sent me my schedule confirmation email. Its been weeks and I am supposed to start in a few days but I have no idea how and anytime they finally respond to my emails asking about it they tell me to check my spam and completely disregard what I am saying. ): does anyone know of a number I can call because the email and chats aren’t working

    • I usually talk to someone in chat. It sometimes take a long minute to talk to someone but I 90% of the time get someone in chat to talk to.

      • I submitted my application on September 14th. I received an email on October 5th from Amazon Recruiting stating, “We are currently reviewing your application and will be in touch once this has been completed.” I have not heard a thing since. Is anyone else in the same boat? Are all the jobs filled? Will I hear something either way?

        • Same exact thing here! I’ve contacted the amazon chat regarding my app and they said it’s still on file and they are still hiring for the position. I’m guessing they hire a first round of people who applied first and as business needs change they will hire a second round. This is just an idea as when I have done a chat with amazon help they say hiring is based off current business needs.

          • I am a bit discouraged as well. However, I also did the chat thing and was told that they receive hundreds of applications and it takes awhile to go through them all and get people moved to the next step. They suggested checking your application online and as long it says that your application is signed and completed and it does not say something to the affect of “no longer under consideration,” then you are still in the HR review process. Also, they informed me that they stopped taking applications awhile ago. In addition, several of the applicants will not follow through or drop out, so they continue with the review process. So, I guess we just have to be patient until we hear otherwise. Fingers Crossed!

          • Hi! I was wondering did you ever hear back from amazon and get hired for the position you were waiting for? Ive been waiting 3 weeks now and was told the exact same thing as you from the chat today. Thanks!

          • Hi! Did you ever hear back and get hired for the position? How long did it take to hear back? Ive been waiting 3 weeks now and was told the same thing by the chat rep. Thanks!

  5. I applied for the Seasonal Work from Home Job about a month ago. I just heard back from them this week with a Contingent Offer Letter.

You need to attend a virtual hiring event which they let you choose which day/time works best. Once connected you stay on mute the entire time till the end if you have any questions. The person leading the meeting just goes through what to expect and any frequently asked questions. The end like previously stated is open for questions.

I am now waiting for them to send me another email to allow me on to the portal to complete paperwork, begin the background check, and choose the schedule that works best for me.

They are pretty strict about not being able to miss any days during training. You are also unable to take any vacation time off. Doctors appointments, sick days, etc will be allowed. They also say that the training hours chosen will be your set schedule, so be careful when choosing.

  6. I’ve made it all the way through the hiring process and have a start date of October 23rd. The one thing I’m having trouble with is the systems check which generates the spreadsheet results which must be mailed to Amazon. We were told during the hiring event that we must e-mail our results by October 16th. I’ve went through all the steps (removing all anti-virus software, disabling Wifi, etc.), but when I use the “Are You Ready” tool I keep getting an error message which states “Console Application 1 has stopped working.” I am now wondering if the system check cannot be properly completed until I receive the equipment in the mail and set up my login, etc. Anyone else have this problem? I

    • Your system check shouldn’t be affect at this point. Show me a screenshot of your report, we can compare ours and see what it’s supposed to say, I have a couple that say failed as well, which was my wireless connection and a third party antivirus software. 🙂

      • Hello, I applied for a Seasonal Full Time At Home customer service representative, I was wanting to see if anyone can help me, I have been trying to pass the Are You Ready Tool and I keep getting a FAIL on my download speed only even though when I do a speedtest.net test everything is perfectly fine and I have more than enough to pass the test… I’ve been trying to fix this for hours!! I tried the test on a different pc in the house, not one I am using for actual work and it passed on there with the same internet source… I do not understand what could be causing my computer to keep failing the download speed test… Any help would be greatly appreciated.

        • Hi…
I attended a meeting yesterday at 7 am I had 2 “fails” when I submitted my screen shot. Couldn’t log back in… waited a bit after I’d fixed them and re-submitted it … I just don’t have the 5mbps upload speed 😞 Hope that doesn’t change things..
Last night I got an email saying they moved me to another position due to the state I’m in (WA) Anyone else have this happen?
Also how long until we receive anything about an i9 appt?
Thanks for any help and good luck everyone 👍🏻

    • I was suppose to attend the hiring event today, but when I tried to join it kept telling me she had disconnected. I have a new appointment for tomorrow, can someone tell me what to expect? In details of what’s going to happen?

      • Basically, you will just have to listen to them. It’s a presentation about what to expect from them and about your work schedule and start date for training. You can also talk to them, if you have question and it has chat box if you prefer just to type. They will answer all your question.

        • They will tell me my schedule during the hiring event? Does that mean I’m hiring? I’ve also read about them doing some type of spread sheet and also about a vpn?

  7. Does anyone know what kind of schedules are offered for Seasonal Customer Service work from home? If I understand correctly, there are two different shift positions to choose from, Four 10 hour days and Five 8 hour days? What are the hours to start on each shift? Can we choose our own start time for the schedule?

What is the first day of training like?

    • Hi Sarah you can’t choose your own start time. you have to choose from the available start time and shift that is left.

      • Actually, Criss, that’s how it works for reserves associates. Part time and full time work from home CSAs have set schedules, regardless of whether they’re blue or green. Only Reserve CSAs have the option of building their own schedule through the bidding pool.

  8. Can anyone tell me about the first day or first week of training? like what to expect? I got my VPN chip today but I don’t have my headset yet, the letter said I should receive it after starting training. I am wondering if on the first few days of training will I need to be connected to webcam or some kind of MIC to be able to talk to anyone or is it a bunch of paperwork for me to read over and things like that? thank You

    • I was wondering the same thing. My VPN chip is set to arrive on 10/4/16 and I start my training on 10/9/16. I also tried to do the check of my equipment (PC req’s) like they asked but never received any results. Does anyone know if that’s done before the training begins or is it completed on the 1st day of training? I would appreciate any insight anyone has to offer.

      • Hi, Cynthia, I think we have they same day to start for training, But I am little confused too about that. Because in my Docs it shows start date would be Oct 7 and also I am having problem with my work schedule, i requested already to change my schedule but last night i got an email but the time i requested never change, :(..

        • Hi Che,
I’m glad to know you’re gonna be in my training group. 😊

I received an email regarding the equipment req’s. It said that the computer will be generating a spreadsheet (I’m assuming on our 1st day) to let you know your PC results.

I’m sorry to hear thst schedule changes are not granted. I also requested to have my schedule changed and was hoping that would be possible….I guess not 😔. I’ll let you know the outcome when they respond.

          • Hello Cynthia,.I have talked with representative already yesterday and send them and email. but spoke with one of the representative through chat. he did confirm that my work shift has been updated. Just very curious why still getting an old work schedule.. I cannot work during the day. LoL.. But hopefully they will fix. I already got my token but no headset yet. I guess they will send after training.

        • I believe I’m in the same training session. I start the Week of October 9th, so we are probably in the same session. I just wish I knew what to expect on the first day because I have kids as well.

          • Hi Che & Ashley,

I did get a response from a rep and she said that I’m not able to change my schedule as the schedules were already sent to production. But, it’s ok….. I gotta make it work. I work the mid- afternoon shift and into the night. I’m hoping the training will be smooth and. hope to work with you both soon.

          • that sucks! I am very concerned about my work schedule. I was told by rep that schdule was been changed. But confused now cause i got old work shift schedule which i cancelled before.. Don’t want to work 4-am-22:00 because of my daughter just wanted to work afternoomn to night. Argh..

          • Ashley, did you get any link where to go for training?.. I only got the token that’s it! I am so confused at the moment. I have 2 days to go before training but did not get any email from amazon yet.

          • No I’m on the west coast. I tried to pick overnight because of my kids. I actually only wanted part time because I could work while my kids are asleep but they said they only had full time. And then I was hoping for split shift but no luck with that.

          • i wanted to change my schedule too. Been trying to reach them out 13 days ago until got the same schdule. Hopefully they will email me back kinda hard to reach them since everytime you talk with chat all they will tell you, just to wait for HR reply,.

      • Did you ever get your schedule changed? I did the same thing as you and my schedule says the time I chose but received an email with the old schedule I cancelled. The rep just told me to disregard it and wait for another email with the correct schedule. I am freaking out because it says I am suppose to start tomorrow which I cant do and I have class during the week which is why I needed a change.

    • Hi ,

well as per a questions and answers meeting that I was in yesterday which was sent on the survey email that allows you to select your first day , they mentioned it would be a Team chat during training so we will all be able to talk to our fellow co workers also new . They mentioned that managenet would visit the chat room every so often to check make sure all is okey. They did not mention thata webcam was needed or a mic but if you own one it wouldn’t hurt to use it if it allows you to 🙂

      • hello, did you start your first day already?. also are we still be able to change our work shift?..I am currently having issue with my work schedule. i changed my schedule days before the deadline but last night got an email about my work shift, the problem is.The time i requested was never change and when i talked to representative, he confirm to me that the record that was been updated was the afternoon the time i chose. But they sent me previous schedule instead which i told them it wont work to me cause taking care on my daughter during the day .:(..

        • Hi Che,
Did u get the email from your team leader yet? I start tomorrow early morning and she just emailed me and I was wondering if u are in my group.

          • Hello. Ashley. I got her email today too. And i guess i saw you in the group!!! 🙂 I will start tomorrow 4am pst and 7am est! 🙂 Good luck to us!! 😀

  9. Here was my process so far in the application and hiring phase.

Applied online for virtual at home agent full time seasonal on 9/22
Received contingent offer on 9/26 with link to schedule online group meeting and start date of 10/23
Attended online event on 9/28 – took about half an hour.
Following day on 9/29 Received I-9 exception since closest “seat” was over 200 miles away – have to use local notary and scan/email paperwork. Also received email with link to choose schedule.

Current status is Contingent offer with 10/23 start, schedule chosen, still awaiting background check to complete. Yet to complete is receiving access to sign documents, headset, and VPN token.

    • my timeline:

      Applied: Sept 11
      Offer email sent: Sept 30
Hiring Meeting attended online on Oct 3rd
I9 email sent on Oct 4th
My closest place to go is about 50 miles away. I go on Saturday (10-8) to
show my driver’s license and social security card.
Oct 5th.. today.. got to pick my schedule!
      It’s from 4:30am to 4:00pm 4 days a week, with a 3 1/2 hour lunch from 8-11:30
I’m thinking this is the training schedule? hoping the production schedule has
more hours and just 1.5 lunch (two @ 45 minutes).
It says still waiting on background check…
I have to have technical info in by Oct 23rd, and I start on Hallowe’en!
      Best of luck 🙂

    • Your timeline is very helpful, thank you! I received the contingent offer-I’m trying to figure out when it will be ‘official”.

I recall reading Amazon’s specific rules on hiring was that they do background checks, but only after you are hired and that it is not used in the decision making process. I’m not personally worried about it, I kind of assumed they are looking for major crimes or felons. But it sounds like you do have to pass one before you are officially hired?

      • my background check took 11 days. I have my token.. start Hallowe’en.. they say that the headset will be mailed during training!

        • I think your lunches are really two lunches. One at 8 and another at 11:30. This is the way most of the employees have it. I haven’t seen any lunches that are 3+ hours long.

          • makes sense.. it says 8 – 11:30… (8 & 11:30 would have be easier to understand!!) but its an 11 1/2 hour schedule.. – 2 -45 minute lunch = 10 on a 4-day week = 40 hours. well, i better cancel that nice nap i was going to take 🙂 for some reason i thought training was 8 hours a day…. but that’s probably for 5 day workweeks. Thanks for the heads up.

    • How is the hiring event conducted? Do you need a Webcam or is done through text chat? I don’t have a headset yet.

      • Hi ,

Well its a virtual hiring event and you don’t need a headset or a webcam . you will need a computer and headphones or speakers to listen to the person that will conduct the event and if you don’t have a mic or headset with a mic then you can type your questions.. Its 30 minutes and pretty cool most of the events they will tell you that your hired and after that if you don’t withdrawal from the job offer and you like what was said in the event then they will continue the process.

What position did you apply for ?

  10. I started on Monday the 26th as a seasonal virtual associate. Today is my day 4 – I chose a 4/10 schedule. The training is extremely informative and the group meetings with team leaders and groups are fantastic and help bring understanding to much of the training. We also do role playing and are able to ask questions. There are many tools provided to assist as well. So far it’s been great. The biggest challenge was getting set up and logged in to the VPN on day 1 but that’s become much easier each day. The email you get about your first day will guide you to getting in and from there you literally dive in to lots of training!

    • That is awesome! my training will start on oct 7,. Question, is the role play actually one by one with the manager?…

      • It’s with a team you are signed to with a team lead. There are over 40 in my group of “nest” as some call it.

    • I attended the hiring event on Sept 29th, could anyone tell me what all is needed for the I9 Confirmation (ID, paperwork, etc) and how far away that location was from your home?

    • So do u actually talk to people on your team and team leaders or is just listening and typing in a chat room for training?

      • Training is pretty much on your own although you have team meetings that elaborate on what you what you are learning in training. You do have a couple tools for chatting which are a Godsend!

    • That’s so different from how the Reserve CSAs do things. Reserves training is entirely self-motivated and incredibly thorough. There are the group chats that you can ask questions in, but no meetings or anything like that.

  11. So if you are attending a virtual hiring even is it basically saying you are hired? My event is scheduled on October 3rd and I’m not really sure what to expect. It is for an at home position.

    • Right. It lasts about a half an hour. You will be in a group chat. They will explain more about the work, pay, training etc. After that what happened for me was I received some I-9 information and made my appointment to get that reviewed. Then I received a schedule email, you go on a page and choose your schedule. I’m full time so choices were five eight hour days or four ten hour days.

      Good luck.

  12. Hello I took my assessments for work from home seasonal up to 60hrs per week if busy. I also completed the ADP tax credit survey. I have my hiring event tomorrow and how long after that event do you know if you are hired? i am really anxious to get to work. Any and all info on the rest of the hiring process would be greatly appreciated.

    • well at the hiring event there they will tell you that you have been chosen and after the hiring event they will process your background check and there they go forward. If you do not withdrawal from the job then you are okay.

      • Great thank you how long does it take for the background check to come back and then get a training schedule. How long is training? Thank you so much for your help.

        • Well i have training soon and its for part time not full time . ive read training could be about 3 weeks long . The training schedule should be given to you before training starts and you can choose from there. For me background check took about 3 business days after the hiring event but don’t worry if it takes longer because they are backed up with so many new hires but don’t worry they wont just allow you to reach training without all paper work and schedule. Also ive read that on the first day of training you learn how to choose your hours and stuff like that and for some people that is when they chose the schedule. Remember to alwayse check your emails because their emails are like surprises they arrive at any time mainly on Tuesdays and Fridays but some ive gotten on wendays

      • Mike do you know if they have hired all the seasonal employees yet? I applied about two weeks ago have not heard a thing. Thanks

        • If you applied and it allowed you to do it then you are ok it could take about a week and half for them to respong for the first time

          • Mike I applied a month ago and all I received was an email saying they are reviewing my app and that was 2 weeks ago. I’m getting discouraged! 🙁 Does it usually take this long? Also do you know what the training hours are? Are they set hours?

        • Hi! Did you ever hear back and get the job? How long did it take? Ive been waiting 3 weeks now.

    • Hey Amy, I am also scheduled for a hiring event on 9/29 @ 3pm! I have looked all over for info pertaining to the process of the (HE) and all I’ve found is how long it may take.. I’m wondering if the system check is sent out during this time and would love to find out some of the questions that we will be asked! If you have any info could u kindly share? I’m so excited but nervous!

      • Hi Brandi sorry I just came back to this site. I have not done any system check that I recall other then the onboarding checks I went through. I got my token today and it says I will get a phone and a headset in a separate package after I start training. My training starts the 10/23 but since I picked a schedule of Tues thru Sat from 430pm to 130am EST I do not start my training I guess until the 25th. I am excited too and nervous also but I am sure we will both do fine. Where are you in the process now and when do you start?

  13. I start next month FT, yeah, that flexible schedule is bananas. Pacific time is a killer. Then before choosing a schedule they don’t tell you how long breaks or lunches are. Then some schedules you work BOTH Saturdays and Sundays. That sucks

      • No not yet. And I thought we would at least be able to do overnight. That was the purpose of work from home. I have small children and I’m on the east coast. Plus on the first Saturday I have to take a certification exam

      • For me the timeline was long – I applied in late May and within the past week I heard back and completed the rest of the steps to hire on for seasonal. Though quite a few other people have applied and began their hiring process within days after they applied.

  14. Hi everyone is there anyone here going in soon for Reserves or has already started that may want to share there expierience

  15. Can I hear from the people that got hired permanently after being hired as a seasonal CSA. How likey is it that you get hired Permanently?

  16. I did my virtual meeting 9.9 and I start training on 9.28. Is there anyone is starting training that day? If you have already experienced training. Do they send a link to get started where do you start? I am a reserved part time associate will they send me a schedule with hours. I just received my tracking for my token it should be here tomorrow. They also sent me a list of the i9 background and showing everything is complete. What the next steps? And is there anyone else starting on 9.28 training?
    Thanks

    • hey brad I was suppose to start same day as you but now I start the 3rd same reserves par time I have not received the tracking number yet for the equipment but I guess they will send you an email with a link so you can select the hours you want to start training

      • Hey Mike thanks for responding. If you don’t mind me asking why did they change your date? If personal you don’t have to talk about it. I got my tracking # and should receive something from amazon tomorrow.

        • Hi brad , sure well they seem to be very busy with the hiring process so one of the chat people from amazon said that they try to group everyone that is in transit for the same posicion so if anyone has a delay tha could be a problem . also ther eis a i9 verification some people tend to have problems with that since it could be far.

i was given a permanent offer and all im waiting for now is the headset and token basicly the tracking number. my start date is the 3rd no longer the 5th

sometimes when we go through the hiring event some people tend to withdrawal their applicaion becouse of whatever was said at that meeting wasnt something they wanted to get into .

For everyone in the reserves part time theres a this person called staceys world she talks about the experience shes having with the job and so far she likes it … she has a youtube channel clled staceys world you could look her up she saisthat you choose your own schedule in increments of 30 minutes and if you dont want to work alot you could do just one hour per pay period to keep you job active but offcourse why only do one hour when you can do 10 or 20 in two weeks …

      • hello

I start on the 3rd of october i beleive you do as well .

Have you recieved your tacking number for the equipment

    • Hello, as for becoming permanent after working seasonal, I have heard that they do hire on permanently. I started with them back in June for the Reserves Team and it is a perm position. Just FYI I did see AMZ ad on Indeed.com’s site. I would look for that position and apply. It is a great company to work for and you are able to make your own schedule.

      • Hi anna !!! I’m also for reserves and training is in October new hire .Id like to ask you how is it ?? schedule and work wise ??? how was training ??

        • anyone having problem onboarding portal site?. After I sign electronic documents last night, and now when i try to check when is my start date cause I think they put oct 7. I just wanted to make sure when but won’t let me access the site.

        • Hi,
As for the schedule for training it ea self-paced but they give you a time that it needs to be done. When you are done then you will start your schedule and that is something that you can schedule on your own. I scheduled mine around my other job at the time. Its worth it. Hope this helps!
          Anna

  17. Hi guys can you guys say the job type you applied for before the comment 🙂 becouse we are all talking about the same company but not the same job type like full time/ partime/Reserves that way i can help responding correclty and faster :)! im still waiting on someone to help me with how flexible is the RESERVES JOB which i start next month :)!

  18. Hey everyone my start sdate was set and i see afew talking about the schedules and time and also someone saying that its flexible and that they only saee 8 to 10 hour shift now im confused becouse if you were offered a Virtual work from home flex tha should mean that you choose the hours you want to work so are we talking about the same position? anyone here has the flex reserves ???? please let me know if you mase it through training and did you have prob lems with schedule

    • Im hired on with Flex too but haven’t started yet, I am however hoping we can pick hour by hour as I did read its 30 minute increments .

      • hey guys i also got the flex position for amazon and just today someone called me and left a Voice mail it stated that i needed to complete my i9 process and if i already did to desregard the call . Ive already completed it a week ago and was wondering if anyone had the same ? since im hopeing this is a reminder and not that something has gone wrong.. …also i wanted to ask if anyone on the flex position know anything about aschedule ?

        • They called me too, But then I haven’t finish my i9 yet. I have an appointment tomorrow to finish my i9 verification. I already did the one online but this one is in person. I have to go to the closest office.

  19. Hello all, I read through info about hiring and training, but nothing about the actual work. What’s it like? thanks

  20. Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone has started yet and could explain the work schedule a little more in detail. I understand it is 5 days a week 8 hours a day though is it 8 continuous hours?

When I applied I was under the impression it was a flexible work schedule. Coose 1-30 hours. I was told it is 40 hours a week which is no problem for me though since I have young children I would have to split it up through out the day. Does anyone know if there is any schedules like 4 hours in the morning and 4 at night?

Unfortunately paying for childcare is not something I can do since babysitting costs is $15 an hour and I would be only paid $10.

Thank you so much for any help at all!

    • I am in the exact same boat. When we had our hiring event Monday the lady told us that there may be different schedules to choose from we just have to wait until the schedules come out. But whatever u pick for training will be the Same as your actual work schedule. So I’m hoping to be able to do split shift as well because of my little kids.

      • Can one tell me how long after you submitted application for seasonal work did it take them to contact you? I am on day 3 and it just says application complete and signed.

      • Hey everyone my start sdate was set and i see afew talking about the schedules and time and also someone saying that its flexible and that they only saee 8 to 10 hour shift now im confused becouse if you were offered a Virtual work from home flex tha should mean that you choose the hours you want to work so are we talking about the same position? anyone here has the flex reserves ???? please let me know if you mase it through training and did you have prob lems with schedule

    • Hey ladies,
I think we all are wondering the same thing, have you heard anything new on the different schedules they offer? I’m just waiting to see what they have available 🙂

      • I also have a problem accidental choose the wrong schedule. Trying to contact them if i can be able ti change it. And all i see 8 hrs straight,. 🙁

        • I got the schedule and all I’m seeing is 8 or 10 hour shifts and most are daytime shifts. I’m not sure how it’s going to work out.

          • That is my problem. I wanted to choose the schedule afternoon. I accidentally chose morning..:(. And I dont think that will work out morning shift for me cause i have a baby that i have to care of.

  21. Hey all,

I got another email stating the next steps which is for the conputer test .I know many of you were getting a fail or error message and i had it to but was able to fix it . If all the requirements are ok but you get a fail it could be the microsoft updates theres an issue with a recent update that just gets stuck loading and u have to manually update it .. but my question is one of the steps sais VPN ?? Where do we start with that ??

  22. My Job Status: Appointment Scheduled <<< but i have already done the hiring event anyone has the same even after the event ??

      • Thanks for your reply i chat with the amazon site and they sent an email to have HR corect it so now i see it may be a normal thing my event was last week wendsday wondering when ill get a email or update ? today is monday

    • I have a question. I really want to apply and do this but I wanted to make sure that this was really legit. I’m very hesitant about putting my Social Security Number online. Is there any way that I can get around this or is this really legit where it will be ok for me to put it? Did you feel fine putting it on or was there a way that you got around it?

      • I wasn’t comfortable w/ it either, but I did have a few questions and ended up contacting HR. They were able to bring up my account so I felt pretty safe it was really Amazon. Hope this helps.

  23. Hello,
I just got an email today about the seasonal work from home position with Amazon. I am at the next step which saids its a virtual hiring event. Can anyone tell me exactly what happens during this event? Thank You

    • Hi, Yes the hiring event was over the computer its a virtual site that you have to log onto with your computer or dial a number if you are using a mobile phone. You will know that you are connected becouse it will aloow you to enter and you be able to see many people connected via Chat like a big chat group. you will be able to see on your left some flashes or just an imahe where they will be showing the entire course. It dosent take to much time unless they all have questions at the end like 30 minutes more or less. just make sure you get in there afew minutes before becouse most people were having troubles setting up their audio or not able to hear anything at the begining. They will explain hoe it works and what you are expected to do also the start date and what to expect from them in the next few days. if you have any questions you can select the raise your hand botton next to your name

      • Thank you for responding! Is the virtual hiring event something I need to have a microphone and webcam for? Or is it just typing questions/answers and listening to the recruiter?

        • well once you are connected to the hiring event on the computer you need a headset or a microphone to be able to ask questions in the event that you need to but if u are using a phone you wont need any of that just make sure you are muted untill you have a question. also in the job description it dosent say you need a webcam but some job offerd by amazon does say you need one and i dont know why ? im gona get a webcam for myself incase wile on the job higher management needs to webchat with me for some sort of quality one on one . But you dont need a webcam for the virtual hiring event just a microphone if u need to ask questuions . some people just dont ask anything becouse most of the questions asked will respond yours.

          • by the way they will also respond to questions over the chat box but they are faster to awnser you if you use a microphone and select the “raise your hand option”

          • Hello I have a question. i applied for virtual customer service job home based and I am also done with my hiring event just today My question is, how many days did you wait to recieve contingent offer letter after the hiring event?.. Thank you

          • Well supposedly we were supposed to get it beforehand but none in the group I was in received it so they resent it and I got it a few hours after the event.

          • I think we are in the same group. i just got the contingent offer just an hr ago. I have read they resend it. Good luck on our training! 🙂

          • oh cool!! Did u get the email about doing the i9 paperwork? I’m going to complete mine of Friday. I did the checklist email they sent out already.

          • I didnt’ need a mic or webcam for my virtual event, You logged on and downloaded an app and you could type questions, and they answered verbally

  24. Im trying to do my systems check and i got all the way to the Are You Ready? Tool and when I try to get the spreadsheet to see if i passed or failed, it keeps saying error. I know I have all of the system requirements, so i dont know what the problem is. Anyone have this same issue?

    • I am getting the same error…mine says console application 1 has stopped working… I have tried everything to get it to run. I even paid $100 to a company to try and figure out what was causing it. Have you had any success with figuring it out….what does your error message say?

      • Have you uninstalled your anti virus system ? you need to uninstall and install or activate windows defender ! and no wifi has to be wired let me know

          • Hi ashley well in the requirements it sais No third party anti virus systems and you need windows defender which is like an antivirus system but by microsoft . i had the expensive norton given to me from comcast and trust me it felt bad having to uninstall it . but i beleive the antivirus may block application trying to diagnose the computer like what you tried to do earlier . also if you have anything but what they require this may affect them to monitor your calls i guess third party antivirus systems are made so that no one can access your pc and protect it if any apps are trying to obtain information like speed computer details and that is what amazon needs to make sure you have the required system . i took my anti virus norton off and activated defender which is suspended becouse u already have another protection taking over 🙂 it is safe but you need to activate defender! ihave windows 10

  25. I just got an email saying that my training is on 9/21 my question is are the hours set or can you pick them because I work for enterprise and i have a set schedule that really cannot be changed.

    • If u have the reserves position you can pick your own hours if not then they give you a schedule have you been scheduled an appointment yet. I’m suppose to start 9/21 but they dont have appts sent out yet.

      • My e-mail is [email protected] I am also interested in anyone who would like to support each other, or role play etc… while self training!

I don’t know if you guys got the e-mail to schedule your first day of training yet, but for your very first day your required to work 4 hrs min. You can choose a straight 4 hour block from 6am-to-10pm. Your first day of training teaches you how to use the schedule system to schedule your own hours, then you choose from there when and how much you want to work, required: 50 hrs of training to be completed in 2 weeks. They also provide a phone number you can call in for Q&A’s for scheduling your first shift, but when I called no-one was available.

        • My training will start Oct 9. I am wondering what is all training all about. Also do we have quizzes? Or what?.. Lol. It my first time working as customer service. I don’t have any idea.

          • I’m currently in training, week 2. The 1st week was self guided training (ZERO classroom). This week the actually have thrown us on phone calls with no type of role play or mentoring. It’s very awkward as no one on my team feels comfortable and we don’t fully know what we’re doing.

          • You mean the actual phone call from customer after a week with no role play?..or the trainer call each of you and pretend as a customer?..

      • Hi Nikki I believe we’re in the same boat lol… I am in VA & I received an Contingent Offer Work from Home Virtual Contact Center for Reserves part time.. my start date is 9/21 no appointments have been set and I’m starting to get real confused on how exactly this process works as far as if I will also get to set my schedule for the training, how long or how many hours the training will actually be (hours per day) so if you can or anyone else can help.. Ill keep scrolling and hopefully get some more information

  26. Hello ALL

I justo got the email that sais Congratulations! You have made it to the next phase of our hiring process. We are excited to extend you a contingent offer of employment for a Flex Time position, Reserve CS Associate.

My question is i requested part time so i was nt able to find anyone asking these 2 questions 🙂

What is the earliest time they have available on schedule and what is the hours required if you are part time and full time . also training is it in the mornings or afternoons and how many hours is training !!

    please need a response !!

    Help !

    Thank you !

    • Hey I got the same email it’s for part time hours the earliest time is 3am PCT time zone. It’s says you work anywhere from 1 hr to 30 hrs per week.

      • Hi thank you for yur repsonse i just went though the virtual hiring process but in the appointment option it still sais sheduled and re scheduled ive sent an email to HR and they havent respnded yet but i havent recieved any emails yet for anything the hiring event was the 7th . im wondering if everyones elses still sais scheduled and re schedule 🙂 so just to make sure we make out own schedule ? and how do we choose do you see hours and then you make up your mind when you want to do it during the week or do you see the hours plus the time that it starts 🙂 !!

  27. Hello everyone I start working for Amazon about a week and a half ago and it’s very interesting to say the least. The self paced training is ok, but a lot of information crammed into one week. Then I was scheduled to take calls and didn’t feel equipped at all. I do have a background in call centers so I knew how to wing it, or at least I thought. It just feels like I work for my self. There was no contact with trainers or team leads everything is through email and good luck getting the response when you need it. I’m seasonal and want to know the chances of becoming permanent? Anyone started seasonal and went on permanent after the end of the seasonal time frame? If so was the pay increased? What about benefits? Thank you in advance!

    • This has been the worst training experience, ever. I can’t believe they expected people to be on phones after 1 week of self guided (no classroom) training. You get no support at all.

  28. I’m in Washington, D.C., very close to VA, hopefully they’ll expand the areas we can be located !!

  29. I am suppose to start training with Amazon this Sunday 6/12/16. I still have yet to receive my schedule times and days or my token. Not sure what is going on with that I have emailed them several times and just get the auto response back. I have no clue where to go to train Sunday or anything. So far this company is letting me down big time.

    • Is this work from home ?.. because when i was with them the training was not weekends and its done from home virtual .. the training is not like most training for these work from home phone jobs . its mainly self taught we had a meeting each day with a leader in a webinar room . then for the rest of the day we was to read material and then take tests on our own .

they also have a live chat on one of the employment websites and they help big time with questions for training .sorry i don’t remember the links ..; check the paper work .

      • Yes it is work at home… And that is what I thought that it was weird to start on a Sunday. But all my paperwork says start date of 6/12. I am just wondering why I have not gotten my token yet that was suppose to have been here last week from all the paper work I received. And I have not gotten a schedule yet as well. I got to pick the schedules that worked for me but they have not finalized it and sent me the one I get yet. And even if it starts Monday I have no clue when to be there or what to do… It is crazy to me to leave people hanging like this.

        • The token I think I got mid way through training , because i think its only needed for when you take calls , but things could of changed .they also sent a headset too via mail, but again those are mainly needed for live not training .I bet between tonight and tomorrow they will flood your inbox with all this info . in there should be a link to that live chat , that really helps with these questions , because since ive been there things like this can change .

          • Thank you so much. I sure hope so. In the paperwork I was suppose to have received the token last week. And my schedule by the 8th. So I was getting kind of worried. Will still worry till I actually see the emails lol.

          • Your welcome Sabrina .

I wouldn’t worry , thats all on their end . amazon actually has very good managers that work with us if we have issues , you are still not in the circle yet until training .. I worked for about 5 company’s of this nature and its always 50 % of the class for the first week or so , saying they are missing this that or something doesn’t work , as long as we show up to the shifts , and do well on the work , they well jump on it and get these issues sorted .

I actually quit during training and 2 managers called my house and talked to me about it , thats rare to find with these company’s and for amazon being so huge , I really didn’t expect it . it warmed my hearth to see that human touch again 🙂 and I went back to training etc . your gonna be fine ,

    • Hello Sabrina. I’m also have the same problem. I’m supposed to start training June 12th as well but havent received any email regarding the training or my schedule.

      • Did you ever get your emails? I am still waiting on mine. I am getting frustrated and a little scared.

      • Hello I just recently was extended a contingent full time job offer and am going to the hiring event on Friday. I was curious on how the hiring process goes after that meeting and what occurs during it. Any information is helpful. Thank you in advanced!!

        • Hi…after the hiring event, its mainly informational on what to expect and what you need to do. I actually listened more than anything because alot of people asked the questions that I needed answers to. Also just make sure that you have a quiet background. Some people had all kinds of noise in the background, but other than that just take notes. Did you go for the ID verification? What state are you in for full-time?
          Anna

          • Amazon does bend a bit or least they did with me ..I didn’t want to travel 2 hours for the verification, so they told me to go to local notary , But I don’t know how much they allow that so don’t hold to what I am saying, I emailed about 4 people to get them to do that .but I have driving issues thats why I did wah jobs .

I hate phone support work so I left them plus it was 10 hrs with no breathers except breaks .I got lucky to get a few local prospects out of my house now thats close to me .and get off the phones .. if you don’t mind this work then amazon is good to be with .

            Best wishes ,

            Ray

    • Maybe check your Spam folder. I am starting on the 12th and I’ve received my schedule. Also, I’ve received the token. My schedule was in my email yesterday morning.

      • Have you gotten anything telling you where to go tomorrow for training? As in the website or any of that?

        • No. I haven’t received any info regarding tomorrow, yet. Hopefully it appears sometime today or tonight.

      • I had to call their main office. And get a website to talk to HR because HR doesnt have a phone number so I had to go to a live chat and talk to someone. They are forwarding it to HR to find out why I have not received the stuff needed. apparently it was messed up with several people. If you need the website to go to let me know. Emaill me at shalynn19 (at) yahoo (dot) com

        • I got the emails about my schedule and sign the last paper work.. I got an email also started that they had a system issue. My start date got push up one week.

          • Mine to got pushed to the 19th….. I also got my schedule today yayy… well like 5 minutes ago lol. I work Sunday, Wed, Thurs, and Friday which is not the schedule I chose but still it is an ok scedule and I work 730 am to 1900 pm…. I am guess they are factoring in lunch and the 15 minute breaks as well since that is 11.5 hours and I signed up for 10 hour shifts.

          • Hi there,
I am also new and was to start on the 6/12 date, but they eventually sent an email saying that they apologized and that I would be starting on the 6/19 training. I have received the token, but no email as of yet, and its Saturday 6/18. I just wanted to see if this has come to others and just trying to figure out what to do from here.

            Thanks much….Anna

      • I had to call corprate office this morning to get answers. I am still waiting. HR is having to look into it. You can google corp office for Amazon and get the number for them. Not sure how long it is going to take them to find out what happened or when I get to go to work till they get back to me.

        • Did you start on the 19th? That was my start date and here it is day two and Im still having issues.

    • Hi Brittany, me too. I started 19th and I can’t get through the last step to get in the file. I just don’t know what is keeping me from the last step.. Wow what first day.. I work again Wednesday an I hope to get this resolved 👍

  30. I was hired for the 2015 seasonal vcc position. No interview, which I found very odd as I haven’t worked in 7 years. No request for my I9 to be notarized, but there was confusion as to whether I had everything complete. It took the 2 minutes for the employee at some college I had never heard of to verify everything. Smooth sailing until getting into training. I understood the 8 hour days, but if you get behind its overtime for you…then the second week became 10 hour days because of the holiday. Problems in phone shipments meant little to no phone calls until, yep, Black Friday. Talk about jumping into the fire. 8 hours of phone time and some of us are complete newbies at this. I’m not looking forward to this. I don’t have a thick skin…and I have some medical challenges that worry me with the impending stress. I was hired for part time 4 hours a day. I haven’t seen that happn, nor will I until after Cyber monday….even then we have mandatory overtime.

Good luck out there to employees and shoppers alike.

    • How did you do with your first day on the phone. So far I have had 4 10 hr days of training and I do’t feel prepared.

    • I am going on phones first time tomorrow , I am going on second week of training and let me tell you , this is not my first work from home Job and I am very nervous , I felt sofar the training is terrible , and that RC is horrible I had to guess on most answers for tests , that’s my biggest concern is not getting the right Info too a customer.. I used the same RC with another job and that’s why i left it , I felt like a idiot with the customers .Tink was the customers horrible on the phone ? you mentioned thick skin. You must be with me Peg ..

I never had training go this way , usually they have a trainer with us the whole day other Jobs I had. What scares me is the day we are suppose to train with actual calls the training schedule says no sessions with the trainers .So do we just jump into it alone ?

Sutherland was the best I ever trained with , it was trainer guided the whole course , and they really took time with you and made sure you felt ready , but this is seasonal and i know its not perm so they cant give us that time , very rushed , cause after all the company’s don’t care about us just the customers .Bottom line don’t over sweat it , its only for a few months anyways , so leaving this wouldn’t be a huge disadvantage.I am just hoping it can turn into more . If I like it.

      Goodluck to everyone

      • I so agree about the training. Seriously, an hour on a purple toaster. Please, I know how to shop. Good Luck to you too. I won’t over sweat it. It is what it is.:)

        • hey Peg , I haven’t taken any calls yet , I had a issue with the land line and had a tech come out , TBH if i only had to worry about myself I would leave this Job ..and never ever take a phone wah job as long as I live . I got written up for not knowing I had to complete the training first phase by Friday { it was in the email thou so my bad }, I thought I was ahead of most by comments in chat . I even got permission from HR to work and complete them on weekend and holiday . only to hear today that they had to be done by Friday , I worked my butt off and completed them just to get written up .they are throwing so much content at us for a short 2 week training class and for seasonal . Most seasonal jobs i have done we just took basic calls then transferred . maybe its a test to see how we do for a perm job Idk . but this company is a stickler of policy they don’t care what you have to say or how good you are , if you break one policy that’s it ..so robotic and heartless .

I am just gonna go by the book from now on ..even if im stuck on call if they want to rush us.. as long as i don’t break any rules then that’s all i can do . I can really go on but i flooded this chat enough .lol I do have a non phone job interested in me soon and i hope that offer is still open , im a tech guy , not Q and A billing phone person. I thought at first this was just a simple help people with website type thing . then I saw RC and jaw dropped .anyways GL Peg .

    • Hi! I got hired the other day and on process for my I9 but i am wondering hows the training like? Is it video conference or its all thru the phone? This is my first online job so i really have no idea. Thanks for the info

      • Other phone jobs like this they had a 6 week live via trainer directed training class for 8 hours a day .webinar which is live stream of were you see the trainer and chat room of the trainees .But seeing this is seasonal they don’t have the time to give us that type of training . training here was 2 weeks self directed with a hour or 2 at the start of the day with trainer , its all reading material and tests ,it was flex meaning as long as we kept up with the daily modules and put in 8 – 10 hours a day , you can clock in and out as you feel.if you fall behind the training you can get written up , 3 write ups can lead to termination .if you get 2 write ups for example then go live production they clear . I didn’t know a lot of this till i got hired , we are stuck taking back to back calls with only 2 minutes in between to wrap up emails or even take a bath room break , I was doing emails also but they stopped that and gave me phones for 10 hours a day during holidays , the emails was nice it broke it up .it takes a very strict discipline breed plus you have to love phones to be able to do this , I felt like a robot , and most do not feel ready at all for taking calls , but that’s normal at first with any phone jobs .I left and will never take another phone job again .I got another job that involves no customers and i love it , has freedom too i can get up and walk away from PC any time .but 10 hours of back to back to calls was not for me .

        Goodluck

        • Thanks for the reply at least i have some idea now on how its going to be..i’m nervous but will give it a shot and see if its worth to stay lol thanks again

  31. This company is a waste of my time. They fail to send my token on time for training. I been calling them since they didn’t send it. They gave me the loser rejection email that physical address for gemalto token wasn’t deliver for training. I am not ever going to apply with them again. I got a job offer.

  32. Hey everyone ,
for anyone that went thru the paperwork etc , could you please tell me if you need to get them notarized PLUS do the seating at vendor , { cause this would seem to be a double unnecessary step } or is just going to a Notary good enough , did anyone have to do both ? I been trying to ask amazon but the emails seem auto response .

    Thanks
    Ray

    • Got the Info I was looking for , Nice to find out Amazon does bend and work with new hires 🙂 and make accommodations, as for the type of calls we get from customers , get ready for a thick skin .lol from what I read .

  33. The I9 process { subject to change } 10/23/15

Hello everyone ..Sorry for my negative type post October 19, 2015 at 12:56 pm ,I just need to process a seating arrangement then all should go ok. Just to update everyone on this part of the hiring process..Do to inaccurate Information that was posted earlier on my posts .

1}First .. need to complete the first part of the I9 Email that you will print out and take to a local Notary .{ they listed a payout upon receipt of up to 25 dollars to cover Notary cost }. First company I ever seen reimburse this fee .Remember.. to follow the detailed Instructions on the emails and these steps provided with these forms from Amazon for accurate processing for hire 🙂

2} I then received a online Company agreements and law pages, link, email{ and instructions}..plus W2 fill out form and Direct deposit form to fill out .

3} I9 Vendor – They will send you a email with the links/info for this .This is a brick and mortar interaction go too vendor location. to finalize verification of i9’s etc.. This will provide you with a schedule , calendar, plus location tool .You enter you’re Zip code and input location {miles} Vendors 20 miles , 50 miles , 100 miles ..etc .
You book the day/time etc and arrive in person with all the documents and proper Id’s { mines was 70 miles away } but yet some here said they we’re 10 minutes from the vendor , it all depends .

I also want to mention that when I chatted with a hiring assistant rep ,via hiring amazon website .they do not pay us for vendor process , She said the only pay out is training and then on .. but one of the forms does list in red ink , that they will cover the first step notary expense up to 25 dollars .but don’t hold me to this , in the event this changed ,or that I didn’t get full accurate information.

The order may differ from what /and how I received these emails and documents , and I always want to cover the fact that I just gave a rough layout of how this process worked for me , but could always be in subject to change . or different for you .

Pretty much after you complete all the steps above , you are ready to get into training 🙂
Amazon is a great company plus great opportunity for a work from home agents ..

    Good luck to all .

    Ray

  34. Hello everyone , I just received a job offer for the at home seasonal job , my main concern is do we really have to go to a amazon I9 office just to file a I9 form , most other jobs it was emailed in .. I am concerned about this because my commute is my downfall and why i work from home . I am in NC and never heard of this office filing thing . what happens if they do not have a office near me ? hate to lose a job with a huge company over this , any information be highly appreciated .

    Thanks

    • You have to go to an i9 office, but it’s not necessarily an Amazon office. I went to a third party location–even though there are Amazon offices in my city. Took about 10 minutes, max.

        • This is getting crazy what this company has us do , they ended up sending me a email saying i have to go to a 3rd party place for a I9 form , are they for real , 50 miles away for a form that takes 2 minutes , I have worked for converges , Sutherland and Microsoft and teleflora and never ever had to do this , whats wrong they don’t trust a notary { we have to do both } I don’t drive ..this is why i work from home !! just wish I was 67 so i can tell them all were to go ,anyways wanted to let everyone know , you do have to do all this fussy around for 3 months work pft .

  35. I got just hired as a CSA at home rep in TN! I’m excited to start. I can’t wait to get my headset and token.

    • Dear Ms. Hartsfield,

I am looking for work-at-home employment for a second income to add to my position with the school board in Dyersburg, TN where I live. I believe it would be a more cost effective and flexible situation for me than what is available here. I noticed your post which was on my birthday and would like to know if you did, in fact, start working for Amazon and, if so, what you have to say about your experience. Has it been positive for you and would you advise others to persue it? I would be very appreciative for your time to respond to me.

      Warmly,

      Tina Moody

  36. I was hired yesterday (8/28). I have to go into the office to complete my I9 in which I scheduled my own appt. But in the email I received it says the new hire orientation starts 9/20 at 7am pdt. I’m in FL, so for me it will start at 10am. The actual start date for training is 9/28 for 2 weeks M-F 8 hrs a day. I didn’t get to choose a schedule. The schedule they sent to me was Mon Tues Fri & Sat 4am-3:30p pdt. Which is 7am – 6:30p est my time. I hope this information helps & good luck.

  37. I just received a job offer today but the recruiter forgot to tell me the training start date and the production start date. If any of you were just recently hired and have received it already could you please let me know. Thanks

  38. I have watched their site over the years wishing for a work at home job to show up, I never seem to catch them??? am I not checking the right place? I go to the amazon web site scroll all the way down to “careers” click on it then in the search I type “work at home” nothing ever comes up.

  39. I am just wondering does anyone know if after the holiday if you are brought in as a regular employee is the pay the same or does it go up?

  40. I start training on November 24th . I’m just curious as to how it goes. My hours (for training) is 2pm-11pm. since It’s not actual production work and I have until the end of the week to have my phone on is it possible I can use train away from my set up workstation at home…. meaning I had wanted to go out of town for 2 days for thnkgvg… do you think it would possible to train away from home (but with my computer and internet connection handy)?

    • Thuya,

In the webEx Q&A session, alot of people asked that same question about going out of town. They told us no, we can’t because we can only do the job at our home location. But we are off on thanksgiving (for the training) though. Best of luck!

    • Most of us have a schedule that includes Thursday……and Friday….and Saturday….LOL…this is a seasonal job and the reason they hire US…partly so the regular employees, etc. have some flexibility…..The phone is your home phone and the only one you can use.

  41. Background check was finally cleared. I’m so excited! My email states that HR will contact me before the end of the week, prior to my New Hire Orientation. I received my Gemalto token last week, so I guess the phone/headset is next to come. My interview took place several weeks ago and I was hired on-the-spot contingent upon successful background check (that’s what took the longest). But, the interviewer had asked me why I wanted to work for Amazon.com. I said “Oh my gosh – because it’s AMAZON.COM.” What an honor to be employed by such a Leader in today’s world! I am very, very excited. I know this is a seasonal position, so does anyone have any tips on how to better my chances of staying on with Amazon.com after the holidays? Thanks! And, Congrats to us all!!

    • Sheryl,
As I am looking thru everything in orientation, it seems the best thing is to have great attendance in order to be successful and possibly become a permanent candidate. And of course, provide excellent customer service. Congrats!!!

    • Hi. I know that this reply is late but how long did it take for your background to clear. i am waiting for my background check to clear

  42. Two weeks of training, then you go to production. If after that, they want you to train for something else, they will assign additional training. Just make sure you pay attention in class. It goes fast. Trainers are great!!

  43. I am starting the class trianing on 11/17 whoever is in that class are you ready to provide awesome customer service for Amazon! 🙂

  44. I start training on 11/24. I am seeing so may positive things about this great company!! Excited to start the process. Is anyone else starting on that day? Does anyone know how many weeks/days the training is for Seasonal Customer Service? Thanks so much and enjoy your day!!

    • I didn’t, but I live over a hundred miles from one of their offices. If you are close to them, then it makes sense. It only takes about 10 minutes. I wish I would have been able to. I went 60 something miles away and it was the first time the girl had ever done one. Took me over an hour. She had never used the application before, so was reading everything and getting interrupted all the time. I’ve done them before and just in and out.

  45. You are done for the week as soon as you get everything they instruct you to do done. So if it takes you 2 hours then you are done. It just depends on if you are having computer problems or application problems. I didn’t have any problems, so was done in a few hours after the orientation (maybe sooner). I didn’t time it, I just know it didn’t take long and the pay was for way more time than it took.

  46. Carolyn thanks for sharing, This helps so much I have to prepare my kids! I too am trying my best to prepare. So the whole first week is just an hour long each day? Thanks so much.

  47. Your first week will be a one hour orientation and they will give you “homework”. Just some basic stuff to do online. It doesn’t take very long but you have till Saturday to get it done. You will get paid for this. They will send you a Gemalto token in the mail. It’s just a small fob that gives a number you have to enter when signing into training or work. The following week they will send a headset/telephone (all one piece). Orientation is one week and training starts the next. They will send you emails on what to do and when.

  48. So, I was offered the job Friday, contingent on the background check of course. My start date is next Monday. Could anyone tell me what to expect to happen next from experience? Matt said some emails would come through then a shipment of equipment. What kind of equipment do they send? Also, I wasn’t told anything about an Orientation, is that before the start date or part of training?

Thanks for any info. Just want to be prepared.

    Good Luck Everyone!

  49. Your lunch depends on how many hours you are working. I start production next week and work 10 hour days, so I get two 45 minute “lunch” breaks and two 15 minute breaks. These are already figured into your schedule, it will show when your breaks are. Yes, your schedule is locked in. But it never hurts to ask once you are into training. I know they ask about people that were part-time taking more hours and would work with them.

As for pay, your first check will all depend on when your orientation week is. The next pay day is 21st, so if you are doing orientation and some pre-training this week, you will get paid for it next week. If next week is your orientation, then you won’t get paid till the 5th. It all depends on what pay week you start in.

    Good Luck everyone

    • Thank you Carolyn! That really helps. And you’re right it never hurts to ask, so I am going to ask when I get my training next week!

  50. Hey guys! You were right. . I finally got the welcome email yesterday! Now I’m just curious to know if anyone knows anything about schedule changes. I picked a night schedule 12:30pm-9:30pm pst; but I may need to change that to a day shift. I emailed and asked about it but was told once you choose your locked in. But I was hoping once in production there would be an option to change. Also do we get an hour for lunch? how are lunch hours assigned does it vary every day or a set lunch hour? If anyone knows that would be awesome. I’m trying to figure out how to make this schedule work out. Thanks in advance!

  51. I had my 1st phone interview today and going to have another tomorrow morning… is that a good thing or not and how do we get paid i saw where some one but bi weekly put is it in a check or direct deposit

    • Juanita,

Having a 2nd interview is a great sign! During my 2nd interview is when I was offered the job and chose a schedule. I don’t know anything about the pay though. May all go well with you today!

    • First payment is by check…then direct deposit. First check will come three weeks after start date. You get paid a block amount for your first week of training and then full pay for the remaining weeks training. After training is done, we get paid bi-weekly. 🙂

  52. You won’t receive your phone/headset until the week of training. The token comes one week and the phone/headset the next. Both of mine were a day late. So don’t worry. I also didn’t receive the letter from recruiter and got worried. I did send an emal to vcc and received an answer several days later. They are just hiring so many at this time and are behind on emails and paperwork. It all works out in the end though. You get paid for some hours during the week of orientation. We can’t say exactly what, but it’s more hours than it takes to get the stuff done. I was very happy with it.

Best of luck to everyone. Trainers are great.

    • Thanks so much for sharing Carolyn! Your info helps ease my concerns. I am so happy to have found this site. Everyone is so awesome to be helping each other out! Best regards for everyone!

  53. Hello Again,

I have completed the orientation & IT set up process and am curious if anyone who was hired was informed of what we are paid for the IT set up & orientation week? (I am not getting a straight forward response, only “approximately” answers.) I start the actual training on Monday, 11/10, which is scheduled for 40 hours. Thanks in advance for any info shared & good luck to all!

PS I began receiving spam/phishing scams re: work from home opportunities since sharing my e-mail here in an earlier post–BEWARE, there are scam artists trolling this site.

    • Thanks for letting me know about the emails. I’m going to go through and delete everyone’s email addresses that have been left inside comments. Don’t want anyone getting those kinds of messages as a result of having posted emails here.

Maybe a better way for you guys to communicate privately would be via Facebook — if any of you use it? Just an idea. And if you any of you have memberships at the big work from home forums (WAHM or Work Place Like Home) you could maybe leave your handle for those sites and private message that way.

I have thought before about building a forum into the site. That would make it possible to private message here.

      • Thanks, Anna! I was looking for a way to remove my personal e-mail from the comment, or delete the comment altogether, but was unsuccessful. I would be happy to communicate privately via Facebook or a private forum on this site. It is unfortunate that there are so many trolls on the Internet looking to scam people. Thanks again!

  54. Hello Everyone,
Congratulations to all!! How exciting. I had my interview Monday, Nov. 3 and was hired contingent on my background check. I was suppose to receive an email that night but I never got it. I was told by the recruiting manager that if I had any questions to contact vcc recruiting. They haven’t replied. I have tried to call the contact number on amazon.com but no one is willing to help and they don’t seem to have any info to give me. I was suppose to have orientation Monday, Nov. 10 with a training start date of Nov. 17. I don’t know what else to do. Does anyone have any suggestions or a specific number I could call. Please help.

    • Try 202 226 1000 customer service. I haven’t used this number before but someone on a FB looking for employment group posted it. All the best, I hope you get through to someone who can help!

  55. I just got done with my 1st phone interview. I will speak with the recruiter Matt tomorrow and told I would be offered a position then. I hope so. I did ask about pay just because alot of you forgot. Employees are paid bi-weekly. Just thought I would let you all know.

  56. Kimberly I sent you a email if you can let me know matts full name and email I will followup with him on this. Thanks for your help.

  57. I was hired on 10/31/14 and I spoke to a Matt in HR who told me I would receive a email with the next steps. I still have not received the email and I know training starts soon. For anyone who was hired for this role is this normal that I still have not received the email yet. Also does anyone have a email for someone in HR that handles the work from home role. I want to email them to ensure I get the next steps email. Thanks for your help.

    • LOL…sorry!!! This is COMPLETELY normal in my experience. Matt didn’t email me back and I had to email VCC several times before Matt emailed me back. The only reason Matt did email me back is because I called the helpdesk at the bottom of amazon.com and pushed the employees (new) selection on the phone. They emailed him directly and he contacted me immediately.

      • Do you remeber Matts last name. I wrote it down when I spoke to him and now cant find it. I know they will want to know who I spoke with there full name. You can email me his name at ******.

admin note – email address deleted for your protection.

        • Help desk
Would not help me cause I need full name,Matt also interview me but I forget his last name.so anyone know please do share.

      • Hi everyone! I am getting really worried. I had my interviews this past Tuesday and was I was hired!.. (but of course I have to wait on my background check)… Since then I have been emailing the vcc link and I get no response. The hiring manager I talked to was Nick, and he said I would start on 11/17. I am trying to reach him to ask when would I actually have orientation. Does anyone know how this works? And, Kimberly what number did you dial to get the hr manager to call you back? I am so confused if anyone can help me I will greatly greatly appreciate it. I am so thankful to have stumbled across this site!

        • O guys my email is ****** if anyone has details to help me out. I really need this job, it’s been a rough year… I’m hoping this will go smoothly for me.

admin note – email address deleted for your protection.

        • Hi Valencia! I was the same way, worried all the way, but I still got emails and deliveries when they were due. I want to say not to worry, but I understand the frustration. I start training on the 10th and I got my gemalto token delivered today, still waiting on the phone but I am confident that it will get here. I posted a number earlier in this chat…try calling that. Good luck!

  58. Hello,
I wanted to know how long orientation is, what was covered, and what was required of you. Sorry I asked so much just curious about the details. I have the same training for week of 11/10 and start date of 11/17. Also do you know if the training time is flexible or is it only offered at the set time. Any information is definitley helpful

    • Your training is set, it goes by the shift you will work after training. And email should be sent to you with all the details. The orientation is an hour I believe and then you have paperwork to complete over the next several days. As long as you get it done by Saturday, you are good. Or that is how ours was.

  59. Hey guys I had an interview 4days ago. I have an Laptop and did not have an external monitor. So he told me to purchase one and than email: VCC.recruiting @amazon.com when I have one. Well I went bout an monitor the day before yesterday. And now my email to that address is come ng back as invalid. Can anyone help me get in touch with them? Please I really need this seasonal job, and I was on a roll for a minute. Thx

    • not sure if you have a typo, but this is the correct email format vccrecruiting (at) amazon (dot) com. they can be very slow in the application process,so might take some days for you to get a response out of them.I did my interview 3 weeks ago i was not told if i get the job or not.I sent emails but never heard anything.I hope you have some sucess with them…good luck!

  60. hello everyone!
I am hoping i will be able to get some feedbacks/answers.I applied for the Amazon work from home customer service associate job September 11,2014.The early stage of the process was going so smoothly,i was getting quick response and then now no response.anyhow,i did all the assessment and passed.I was told they would contact me in 2 weeks to setup for an interview.after numerous emails after 4 weeks i finally got an interview date.so i had 2 interviews (October 17 & 18).My first interview went well, just the basic about work from home experience and my computer. My second interview i didn’t think went well,i am not good at interview at all.the interview told me that before he can make a decision he will have to interview all candidates and the chosen ones they will reach out to.stupid me didn’t ask how i can contact him or how long it takes or how they tell ppl they are hire.

so now i am in a standstill spot,i have no clue whats going on.i sent emails and got no response.i just wanted to know if they send out rejection notice?anyone here that already went through the interview process, were you hire on spot?is it normal to wait?any information would be helpful.thank you!

    • I only had one interview and was hired on the spot. The second call was really just to set up details. I think their hiring is done for the season.Call the number on the bottom of the Amazon site. There is a help desk or call Amazon customer service about this. They will direct you to who you should email or talk to.(I don’t know for sure the hiring is done, but they have removed all the places to apply for the job that I know of). Make a note to reapply in August/September/October of next year.

      • thanks for your feedback,i have send them another email to the email that they always message me from, but still no response.anyway am moving forward now.so next year i will apply if am still interested in working with them.

  61. They usually send out an email. But I didn’t get one, so the day before they said they had to have it back by, I sent an email to VCC and got a reply back.

  62. Can anyone tell me how the over the phone interview was? I have one tomorrow and what shifts do they offer ? Thanks !

    • My phone interview was pretty basic. Ask about computer and set up. Ask me to explain a time I had an upset customers, how I handled it and what the outcome was. Ask about previous customer service experience, etc. The shifts depend on what is already taken. I was offered full or part-time, I took the full time because of not knowing how long it will last. If I get lucky and stay on after the holidays, I’m hoping to go part-time. Full-time is 10 hours, 4 days a week. I had a choice of morning start time or afternoon.

      • Thanks for the information! I have never worked for a call center but I have all been in customer service and I’m good with a computer but I don’t know a lot about how to work a call center . Is it just basic computer knowledge or is it advanced ? Thanks in advance

        • We aren’t sure yet, there was some mention of technical knowledge (which I don’t have) so we will have to wait and see.

  63. Hey Guys, I just read thru the comments and just wondering how it is going? For the those of you who have started the training. Did you ever find out about the paychecks? I just received the assessment test today and completed it a.s.a.p. . So I am waiting for a reply now. Thanks in Advance!

  64. I attended the Q & A today. Really wasn’t much to it, although it lasted over an hour. But that was because people kept talking over each other and interrupting. Stated we would get information about Monday (orientation) by 5 pm Pacific time today and our training schedules. I’ve received mine and they had my training down wrong. I sent an email and it was answered quickly, it was wrong and they corrected it. You do have to have a web cam for HR to check ID and also will be used by supervisors for one on ones, and for group chats. It won’t be used with customers.

      • You would think. When he finally said for people to raise hand, some people said they weren’t online, just on phone, so people kept butting in. But it’s the same thing with muting phones when not talking, people don’t and you hear all kinds of background noise.

  65. How long after you filled out the application did it take before they called for an interview? I am in TN and have applied for the WAH CSR position. Just curious on how long the process takes from beginning to end?

    • They sent an assessment which you need to pass before you get an LIVE interview. They will let you know pretty quick right now as they are ACTIVELY hiring….recruiting and training.

      • Thanks Kimberly and Maria. I had my interview today. I was told my background will be back 11/3, orientation 11/10 and training the following week 11/17 for approximately 4 weeks. One more question, how long is orientation? I have a dr. appt the eve of orientation but may move it depending on the length of orientation.

        • You’re welcome Gena…I’m still waiting for orientation (Nov 3) but I know someone who did it and they said it took about an hour……

  66. Hello,

    I have an interview scheduled.

The job listing says you should be able to fill out the I-9 in person.

Do you have to fill it out in person? Can you mail it in?

I’m homebound, but live in their state and have all I-9 info that I could send in– notarized if necessary.

    • Hello user2343 you have to fill it out in person at one of there place of business…could be up to 100 miles away so they say!!! But, I would consider contacting them to discuss your personal situation. All the best!

  67. Hi All,

I’m not sure whether they pay weekly or bi-weekly. But probably bi-weekly, since most places do anymore.

As for having a child at home. It would depend on the child. If he was to start crying or screaming during a call, they would let you go. They expect complete background silence. I have to make sure my dog is in back of house and quiet. I don’t know why they want complete silence, since if you call in and it’s a call center, you hear all kinds of noise. But they do listen in on calls and don’t expect any noise on your end, no TV, radio, kids, dogs, etc.

I am full time and start training the week of the 3rd. But believe orientation is next week. My understanding an email will be sent out this week with all the information about orientation and so forth.

    • Hello Carolyn. Congrats and welcome fellow Amazonian!! I like the sound of that! I wish you all the best with your dog! I am going to try it for a few days, then make up my mind. I appreciate your input 😉

    • Hi, I’ve been reading several post, but all seem to be from people who have just been hired. I was hoping you can tell me if your training went well and if you like working for Amazon.

  68. Hello all and congrats also! I have a two and a half year old son and wondered If I would be crazy to have him here with me while working. I’m just trying to keep my costs down but am also acutely aware that it just might not work!! Any views? I do have two weeks to find a daycare so its not all bad! Thanks for any input. My email is [email protected]. Glad I found this chat!

  69. Hi All, I was just offered the position full time. (I am in TN) I also forgot to ask about the pay schedule, but understood that orientation is 11/3 and training begins 11/5. Would like to stay in touch with other new hires if possible…I am Good luck to everyone and thanks to Anna for sharing this opportunity that I would likely not have known about otherwise. 🙂

    • What step do you get offered the job? I have my phone interview today. I’ve already completed the assessment and they forwarded me the specs for the computer. ******

admin note – email address deleted for your protection.

  70. Hello! I just got hired! I start training November 3rd. I also forgot to ask if they pay weekly or bi-weekly. I’m in Georgia. Would love to keep in touch so we can assist each other if needed 🙂

    • Hello Maria. I just got hired too yesterday and I also start on November 3rd. I forgot to ask about whether we get paid weekly or every two weeks. I decided to go full time and I was wondering if they offer benefits if you do so. Congrats with the job!

      • I was just hired today! I forgot to ask if Christmas day was a working day or Thanksgiving. I was so excited! I live in AZ and will be working from home .

  71. I am in KY and have accepted my offer for @home part time temp position and I am hoping and praying that i get to stay on after the holidays. Amazon has got to be one amazing place to work, I love shopping there and have been eye-balling their new 6″hd tablet (drool) I want one so bad, hello first paycheck :-D. Look forward to seeing you all there, feel free to drop me a line at . See you all at work

  72. I just got hired as well, I live in North Carolina. Orientation is October 27th. I am curious if everyone makes it through training,, how the job is and how easy it is to be promoted. I am working 10-2 for Tuesday through Saturday which leaves room for my other job. They gave me a choice of part time or full time. Also interview and assessments were easy in my opinion.

    • Hi Kimberly,

I lived in Wilmington, NC for years. Loved it, love the ocean. I actually have orientation on the 27th as well. He was late in getting me the email with all the information and I thought he said the 20th. But the 20th is when they have to have the background check back by. I’ll be working Mon, Tues, Friday and Saturdays from 1:30 pm to 1 am Central Time. I’m full time but hoping I can stay on as part-time after the holidays. Just have to see how it goes. Training will be from 1 pm to 12 pm Monday thru Friday. I haven’t read anything about the training, so if you hear anything please let me know. Be nice to have someone going through the training at the same time to chat with. You may email me at ****** if you like. I live in TN.

admin note – email address deleted for your protection.

      • Hi Carolyn….I will definitely send you an email…maybe we can help if we run into questions, etc. WOW….you have quite the fulltime schedule!! I wasn’t brave enough to quit my “real” part time job for this yet. Maybe I will get hired or promoted….we can hlpe!!!! My email is ….I think my training is Monday through Friday 9 to 6 EST.

  73. Has anyone else just gotten hired recently? I received my offer today and accepted. I’m just wondering how the training is and how often they pay. I forgot to ask if it was bi-weekly or weekly. Orientation for me, is Oct, 20th.

    • I think I saw in the training materials that we don’t get a first check until three weeks after you begin. 🙁 ……

  74. I just got hired at Amazon.com as a CSA II! My start date is 9/22/14 and I am excited!!! The interview process was fairly easy and the HR dept (VCC Recruiting) has been great with timely correspondence regarding application status, background check completion, start date, etc. The pay is $10/hr and the hours are blocked as 10-12 hr shifts (including Saturdays) with only 4 day work weeks. I will try to post an update in a few weeks.

  75. Thanks for the heads up about this! I applied myself. 😀 I love shopping at Amazon so I can only imagine that I would love working for them!
