There are a lot of home-based jobs popping up lately for home-based ESL tutoring. I found out about another company today called GoFLUENT that also hires people to work from home doing ESL tutoring.
Does GoFLUENT hire nationwide?
This company is limited to hiring in certain areas. I'm not sure if this changes or not, but as of the date of this blog posting, they are open only to tutors in Kansas, Missouri, New York, and Pennsylvania as well as native English speakers in Canada who are bilingual in French, Italian, Russian, German, or Japanese.
How much does GoFLUENT pay?
They do not disclose the rate of pay on their website, but from the digging I've done it looks like the people who have worked for them in the past are pleased with what they earn, and according to anonymous Glassdoor reviews, their language teachers seem to earn about $16 hourly. It also looks like they pay monthly with direct deposit.
Are you hired as an employee?
Yes! GoFLUENT hires you as an employee. This means they take taxes out so you don't have to try to keep up with that yourself. Also, your training time is paid.
What are the requirements to apply for ESL tutoring with GoFLUENT?
GoFLUENT only hires teachers with degrees or language certifications. This is from their website:
We are currently looking for home-based native English speakers with training and/or corporate experience, excellent English communication skills, the ability to discuss business and world events, and a genuine interest in other countries and cultures.
Most of the teaching you do will be with corporate professionals who have a need to learn English, but it isn't their first language. This is why it's a plus if you have any corporate experience or training.
What is scheduling like?
You have to commit to ESL tutoring for the company a minimum of 20 hours a week, broken up by at least four hours a day. Depending on where you are located geographically, there are certain time periods when you can work.
Where do you do the training?
You can train either remotely or in their offices. There are certain dates set up for training. From what I've read, training lasts just a few days and then you can start work.
What do people say about GoFLUENT?
Mostly good things. Their workers seem to enjoy it and say that the company is very pleasant to deal with and work for.
How do you apply?
To apply, email your resume and an introductory email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Remember that their website says they are only looking for people in Kansas, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, and bilingual Canadians with English as their first language.
I also suggest visiting the GoFLUENT website to read more details about the job.
Looking for more ESL jobs from home?
