Mendr is a new app I discovered a few months ago that I've been meaning to share with you. I know how so many of you are all about flexible work that's non-phone and requires little to no professional experience. So, if you have a knack for editing photos, then freelance photo editing for Mendr might be a great side earner for you. I have all the specifics for you below.
What Is the Point of the Mendr App?
Many people need their photos edited, but do not have the experience to do a good job. These people download the Mendr app and upload their photos so that Mendr editors (this would be you if you're accepted as an editor) can take care of the editing for them. Users might have to pay anywhere from $2 to $30 per image depending on how complicated their editing request is.
Who Is Qualified to Do Freelance Photo Editing For Mendr?
It appears that Mendr may accept editors worldwide. They do require that you verify your identity shortly after you sign up.
You do not need a degree or proof of past professional photo editing experience to work for this company, but you will be asked to take a skills test before you're accepted. Mendr considers applicants of all skills levels. There are test options for beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
However, your chances of getting accepted as an editor are probably much greater if you've had some experience editing photos using Photoshop, Gimp, or some other similar software.
How Does the Application Process Work?
Once you've signed up and verified your identity, you'll be able to take your skills test. If you pass the skills test, you'll either be added to the pool of editors to start taking paid work, or you'll be put on a waitlist (this is only if they don't have a current need for editors).
If you do not pass the photo editing skills test, you're encouraged to practice your skills and then try again in two weeks.
If Accepted, What Does Photo Editing For Mendr Involve?
First off, you do the work from your computer, not the app. While Mendr's clients download the app to request edits to their photos, this is not how you actually do the editing from what I can tell. I do have a list of work from home smartphone jobs if you're actually looking for something that does not require a computer.
Mendr has a dashboard with available jobs that you can accept or decline at your leisure. This is definitely one of those work whenever you want jobs. The company doesn't require you to do any specific amount of work, nor do they care what time of day you do the work.
If you edit a photo for someone who really likes your work, they can request you again. This is what is called a “direct edit request.” With these, you have the freedom to charge an extra fee, and you'll receive 100 percent of that minus the transaction fee.
How Much Does Mendr Pay?
This information is not on the Mendr website that I can see. However, there is a news article posted in March 2017 (around the time Mendr launched) that says most of Mendr's customers will pay between $2 and $30 per image edited, just depending on how complicated the job is.
Mendr does mention a transaction fee being deducted, and again, not sure how much that is. But you can take the $2 to $30 per image and figure your earnings will be somewhere in that range per image edited.
As is the case with any independent contractor opportunity, I wouldn't recommend relying on this to replace your day job because you never know how often there will be work available to do. Go into it with the idea it will be extra money here and there, and see how it works out for you!
You may cash out your earnings to Paypal once a job has been completed and accepted.
What Do People Say About Working For Mendr So Far?
Because this is such a new thing, there isn't much feedback yet. However, it's apparent there are already many Mendr editors actively working, that are also actively posting in the editor community.
If you've done some editing work for Mendr, feel free to share your experiences with everyone else in the comments below.
