Looking For Apps Like Ibotta? Check Out This List!

Several days ago I posted about the Ibotta app — an app that pays you back for the money you spend at the grocery store.

I've been a big fan of the app because it's easy enough to get paid often, plus Ibotta sends your money instantly after it's showing in your account and you request it.

I've cashed out many, many times now and the money was transferred to Paypal right away!

So of course that got me thinking, are there any other apps like Ibotta? I did some checking around and actually found a few that are similar and pretty good:

1 – Checkout 51

The main difference between Ibotta and Checkout 51 is that you can use Checkout 51 at ANY store (even online).

Also, Checkout 51 can be web-based whereas with Ibotta you must use the app. However, Checkout 51 won't let you redeem your earnings until you've hit $20 and there is no Paypal option. You have to wait on a check to be mailed to you.

Go here to sign up for Checkout 51 or read the Checkout 51 review.

2 – Saving Star

SavingStar is something you can use either via mobile or via the app that also pays you back for buying certain groceries.

For some stores, you have to connect your store loyalty cards to SavingStar in order to get cash back on your purchases. For others, you can save your receipts and scan it in through the SavingStar app.

Saving Star has a ton of different supported products and they change each month. Lots of people do really well with this one.

You only need $5 in your account to redeem, and you can choose from a bank deposit, Paypal cash, or you can donate your earnings to the American Forests. All savings are posted to your SavingStar account within 2-22 days.

You can go here to sign up at SavingStar or read the Saving Star review.

3 – Receipt Hog

Receipt Hog is another “scan your receipt” and get paid app like Ibotta. However, this one pays you in coins for each receipt you scan and upload.

You can then redeem these coins for Paypal cash or Amazon codes. It is one of the more well-known cash back apps for Android and Apple devices. You only need 1000 coins ($5) to redeem for Paypal cash or an Amazon code, and while they do not pay instantly, redemptions are usually approved within seven days.

Another plus — you can earn coins from any retailer, not just grocery stores.

Go here to sign up at Receipt Hog.

4 – Groupon Snap

You can get cash back for purchases at any store with Groupon snap, and you can use it with your computer or through the apps on mobile devices (Android or Apple).

Once you have $20, you can request to be paid, and they state it could take anywhere from two weeks to 60 days to get your earnings. You do have to upload your receipts this one, and they try to get everything you submit approved within 48 hours.

You can go here to sign up at Groupon Snap.

5 – Shopmium

This is one of the lesser known apps like Ibotta.

You can earn cash back on your grocery purchases with Shopmium by keeping and scanning your receipts when you buy their offers. Payments are made via Paypal or to your bank account and there are no minimums in place for getting paid.

They just pay you as soon as your purchases are approved. You can use Shopmium at any store. It works on Apple or Android devices.

Go here to sign up at Shopmium.

6 – MobiSave

MobiSave works at any store that prints you an itemized receipt, so you can use it basically anywhere.

It's available on both Android and Apple devices. They pay with Paypal, and there are no minimums in place for getting paid, so you can receive a cash out no matter how much you've earned.

Also, they pay within 24 hours, so no waiting around either. Another thing I like about this app is that there are no inactivity fees (something Ibotta recently started doing).

I really hate being threatened with that when I don't use an app for a while, and MobiSave promises to never do that.

Go here to visit the MobiSave site or read our MobiSave review.

These are all great cash back apps for groceries. Ibotta is my favorite so far — I just love the interface and how they pay me right away!

The Ibotta app makes it possible to bring home as much as $20 to $40 per shopping trip if you buy the things on their offer wall.

  1. i use ibotta all the time and the key is to get people on your team and it works great that way everyone contributes. i have succesfully made 2146.95 as of today. I usually get to level 4 every month so if you would like to be on a team that works us my code ogxerdh

  2. I think Ibotta is soon annoying with all the questions, videos etc. I like checkout 51 and also really like bevRAGE for my wine savings, but they are only in the NorthEast.

  3. Thanks for this list! I started IBOTTA end of may and I’ve earned $70+ and I referred my husband who has earned another $20 (sometimes we need more than one of things), so I just split the groceries into 2 receipts and he gets the duplicates for his app. Sometimes all he buys is a single banana or tomato.
Another tip is to split your ibotta items and others at check out, then watch ibotta for another week and see if any items pop up that you already bought. Since you can’t submit a receipt twice. I’ve caught quite a few items within the week this way.

  4. Iborra is HORRIBLE! Yes, you get money for things you earn. However, if you use the receipt for different apps, they close your account immediately, without any explanation. They sometimes wait 8 days or more to answer their support ticket. My entire team quit using it, because three of them had their accounts taken away, one had almost $87 in it.

  5. I would love to use these apps however, it seems I gotta is not compatible with kindle fire or Windows phone. Any suggestions?

  6. I use iBotta all the time. Our team has made every level since they started and I’ve gotten every bonus. You have to buy and earn rebates to get the bonuses. I need ACTIVE members on my team! Join at http://ibotta.com/r/25uvvq and ask to join Dianne Shaw’s team–that’s my referral link. I also use ShopKick, another free app for gift cards, and have done very well there, too. If you join at http://getshopkick.com/navyblue8455 (my referral link) you’ll get free credits to get you started. I initially got 5 or 6 $15 iTune cards, but now I’m saving for a smart TV. I have over 72,000 points–most from walk-ins and scans of products. I made over 450 points today from walk-ins and scans. So, I do love it! Dianne

    • I would like to be on your ibotta team but we need to be friends on facebook. Do you mind doing that

  7. I just signed up for Shopmium. I’m not sure about that one yet. I am signed up with Ibotta and also with Checkout 51 and just they both pay you if they both have the same items on it. I purchased the items for all the Glade products and used coupons for ever item and got them when they were on sale and got all of them for free and made money off of it. I am a coupon freak. Then if you go to a grocery store and use other stores adds, they will match it, so they are worth it and most of the time you are buying stuff that’s on either one of those sites, so why not get money back. I know that you said Shopmium gives you money back every time you use it and if that’s the case, that’s great. I will find out soon, cause I’m about to use the site.

  8. Ok so there’s a new app JUST like ibotta!!! Only you don’t have to wait to earn $5 to cash out!!! Money is sent to your paypal with every offer you buy!!! It’s called Shopmium and yes it works, I’ve cashed out many times. You buy the item and scan the receipt! Also, in exchange for the new info, I would love if you would use my referral code:MCGHUCQV when signing up, you also get a free Lindt chocolate bar for using it happy earning folks!!

  9. Ibotta has been the best for me as well. I got 43 dollars back on a 62 dollar shopping trip last week!! Love love love!! Here’s the link:

But I highly recommend Iboltta if your looking to save a few bucks daily. I deposited $19.75 into my paypal account just from my last shopping trip. Sign up here to earn $10 just for tryng out the app.

let me know how well it works for you!

  11. Just an update of sorts… There is an app called Shopkick that somewhat fits into this category, but you earn gift cards instead. I have been paid several times on it, but it is hard to add up to a decent amount. However, if you combine multiple apps like this in one outing, it would be more beneficial in the long run… And Shipkick is not solely on items bought or even grocery stores. There are stores in the malls that if you just walk into it, you get points, or scan a poster, or scan items that you do not have to actually purchase… It is worth checking into if you use a combination of the apps listed already.

  12. I’ve never heard of receipt hog?! What’s interesting is it seems you could double dip between the apps. So if ibotta and endorse both have the same store, Im wondering if you could get credit for both, and then another one for receipt hog? Interesting!

    • I think you can do that actually! It would certainly benefit to use them all if you had time to. I love that apps like this are popping up everywhere. Hope to find out about some more soon!

  13. I don’t have a smartphone for the ones that require that, so I like eBates. Since I just bought a house, I’ve been doing more shopping than normal and I’ve earned over $100 on eBates. Nice to have that money since I would’ve made those purchases anyway.
