44 Companies That Are Always Advertising Their Work at Home Jobs

Some companies are proud of the fact they allow all or most of their workers to telecommute. And then there are other companies that offer work at home jobs regularly, but they don't go out of their way to advertise that fact — possibly because they don't want to get overwhelmed with applications, or because they don't always have home-based jobs.

Today I made list of companies that are always advertising their work at home jobs.

These are all completely legitimate companies, and they make it very easy for you to find all the details about their home-based jobs on their websites.

Unlike other companies, the ones in the following list want you to know they allow working from home and you won't have to jump through hoops trying to find those jobs.

In the list below, I've broken the companies down by category and provided a link to their websites and also our review (if there is one posted).

Phone Jobs

Most of the following companies hire for either customer service, sales, and/or tech support.

You will most likely need some type of headset, a quiet background, and a high-speed Windows-based computer (there may be a few exceptions on that below). The experience you need will vary. Many will require at least a little bit of past customer service and/or sales experience while others may be entry-level.

American Express

American Express has regular remote customer service openings in the US and other countries. In most cases, these positions pay $16 hourly or more.

Apple has frequent openings for remote tech support/customer support roles for college students across the US. These usually pay $16 hourly or more.

Concentrix

Concentrix has regular work at home customer support openings for different companies. Salary information isn't posted on the job listings, but they do say it is “competitive.”

Direct Interactions

Direct Interactions has frequent work at home openings for customer service experts across the United States (excluding California and New York residents). Pay is $15 hourly paid bi-weekly via direct deposit.

Enterprise has frequent openings for work at home customer service/reservation sales reps in different areas of the United States. These positions pay $16.50 hourly and offer benefits as well.

Liveops

Liveops is almost always recruiting for new workers for their online contact center in the US. They pay per minute of talk time rather than hourly, so the amount you can earn will depend on how much you work. You are an independent contractor Liveops, so you are never on any fixed schedule.

NexRep is always on the lookout for customer service agents for different popular brands they service. You work for NexRep as an independent contractor, so you can set your own schedule. They claim you can earn $15 or more hourly working for them, but this will depend on many different factors.

NextWave Advocacy is almost always hiring for remote telephone outreach to various philanthropic organizations in the US. They do not list pay information on their website, but it is rumored to be around $14 hourly.

This opportunity is similar to Next Wave (above). You are doing telephone outreach to different organizations. The pay rate is not listed on the website.

Sitel hires work at home customer service and tech support agents in the US for full or part-time positions. Most of these positions pay $15 or more hourly.

Sykes usually has work at home customer service openings across the United States and in Canada. Most of these jobs pay between $13 and $17 hourly.

TTEC has remote openings for customer support and other roles in the United States as well as many other countries. Pay will vary depending on the job and location, but in most cases you will earn $14 hourly or more.

U-Haul is almost always hiring work at home customer service and sales and reservations agents in the US. These are full or part-time paying $14 hourly or $15 hourly if you happen to be bilingual.

Working Solutions is always looking for remote customer service agents in the US to work as independent contractors. Because your work schedule is up to you and each of their programs pays differently, what you can earn with them will vary.

World Travel Holdings

World Travel Holdings hires work at home customer service reps to work at home in the US except for AK, CA, HI, KY, ND, OH, OR, and PA. They pay a base amount of $14 hourly or more if your state minimum wage is higher than that.

It surprises me that I can never find too many chat-based home jobs, especially since so many companies these days have the little chat pop-up when you land on their sites.

I have a list here with a few others in addition to what's below, but the two below are the main ones with ongoing openings.

The Chat Shop

Hires people in some US locations and in the UK to handle chats from home for various businesses. Pays around $10 hourly.

SiteStaff occasionally hires work at home chat hosts. Pay isn't listed, but it's rumored to be around $10 hourly.

Transcription

The following companies are almost always looking for work at home transcribers.

Most will require you to have transcription equipment — a foot pedal and headset. The work is of the flexible, do it whenever you want variety, and you will be working as an independent contractor.

Allegis Communications

Allegis Communications is always hiring work at home general transcribers. Some positions may be entry level.

Quicktate is always hiring work at home general transcribers. This is a popular company for newbies to get started with in transcription. You will have to take and pass a skills test in order to qualify to begin accepting files to transcribe.

SpeakWrite is hiring remote transcriptionists with experience in legal, general, and Spanish transcription. The amount they pay isn't listed, but they state that their top monthly earnings are $3400 a month with most people average about $450 a month.

This is another company that is very popular for accepting newbies to transcription. They pay around $15 to $22 per audio hour.

Online Academic Tutoring/Teaching

The following companies are usually hiring online academic tutors.

Requirements to apply will vary, but in most cases they prefer people who at least have at minimum 4-year college degrees. Some, but not all, will additionally require past teaching or tutoring experience.

Aim4A

This company usually needs remote eTutors to work from anywhere in the world. You do need a bachelor's degree and some past teaching experience to qualify. Pay rate is not listed on the website.

Brainfuse is always hiring remote tutors who have 4-year college degrees and past teaching/tutoring experience. Most Brainfuse tutors average about $12 or $13 hourly.

PrepNow is always hiring remote tutors to work at home. You need at least 2 years of past experience in tutoring or teaching as well as a 4 year college degree to qualify. They pay around $17 hourly.

TutaPoint usually needs online tutors to work at home in the US. They pay around $14 hourly or more for your time spent tutoring.

Tutor.com is always hiring tutors to work at home in the US. According to the website, “You are paid a set hourly rate dictated by the subjects you tutor, and there are incentives available for high-quality tutoring.”

Online ESL Tutoring/Teaching

The following companies are usually looking for online ESL (English Second Language) tutors or teachers.

Note you do not need to know another language to get these positions — you just need to be fluent enough in English that you can help non-English speakers become more fluent themselves.

Cambly

Cambly hires online ESL tutors to work from anywhere. You do not need any teaching or tutoring experience to qualify. You earn $0.17/min ($10.20/hour) on Cambly and $0.20/min ($12.00/hour) on Cambly Kids. Plus, you get paid via Paypal every Monday.

English Hunt is always looking for online tutors to do live ESL video instruction in the US. They say that compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Writing

The following companies usually have openings for writers. You'll notice most of these are content sites — which means a lot of what you do may be ghost writing and also may not pay very competitively.

However, having access to the sites below can help provide a lot of supplemental income. Some people do write for content sites full-time. Another good thing about the companies below is that you can usually get in even without past writing experience.

If you're serious about writing for a living, I'd also highly recommend becoming a part of Carol Tice's Freelance Writing Den. Since 2011, the Den has helped over 14,000 writers grow their income. They offer a junk-free writer's job board, 25 writer bootcamps, 300+ hours of trainings in all, 24/7 forums, live events, and more.

BKA Content

BKA needs freelance writers to work from home in the US on an ongoing basis (this excludes California and Massachusetts). They claim that most of their writers average $9–$14 per hour as they learn their processes. Following training, writers can supposedly average $15–$30 an hour or more.

Textbroker

Textbroker is always looking for writers to work at home in the US and UK. Pay is on the lower side and will vary, but they do pay out weekly with PayPal provided you've earned at least $10.

The following companies usually have an ongoing need for remote editors and proofreaders. The pay is usually pretty competitive, and you'll find that most of these companies will require either past editing experience or a degree before they'll consider you.

EditFast

EditFast has an ongoing need for remote proofreaders, editors, and writers to work at home. Pay rate will vary depending on the project you're working on.

Gramlee is always looking for remote content and dissertation editors. You can work on your own schedule. Pay is usually $10 hourly or more based on various reports online, although the rate is not listed on their website.

If you have a university degree and at least three years of experience in editing, writing, document production, or language teaching, you may qualify for one of Scribendi's freelance proofreading/editing jobs. They hire in the US with the exception of residents living in California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, South Dakota, Washington DC, West Virginia, or Wyoming.

WordsRU is frequently hiring remote editors and proofreaders. To qualify, you must hold a Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent professional experience in any academic discipline.

Virtual Assistants

You can visit the websites for the following companies at any given time and see that they are advertising for remote virtual assistants.

Just as it is with freelance writing, you can make more money working for yourself as a VA than you generally can working under a large company.

Still, the companies below may come in handy if you need experience as a VA and additional income before making the decision to start your own VA business.

Belay Solutions

Belay Solutions is often hiring remote virtual executive assistants in US states except for California, Montana, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. They pay between $18 and $21 hourly.

Search Engine Evaluation

These companies almost always have openings, sometimes worldwide rather than just in the US.

You are usually evaluating web search or social media results. Sometimes there may be other types of tasks listed. Pay tends to be competitive, but the downside is that work and projects may come and go, so they are not safe positions to depend on.

You do the work as an independent contractor, and most of these companies also prefer to hire people who have smartphones.

Appen

Appen is always needing people for their online crowd work — longer-term projects, micro tasks, and survey/data collection. Pay varies depending on the tasks you are completing.

21 – Bonus Tip – Check FlexJobs For Even More Higher-Paying Remote Jobs

FlexJobs is one of my favorite sites to use for finding remote jobs and learning about new companies that hire remotely. Most of what I see there when I check the listings pays well above minimum wage!

The great thing about FlexJobs is that they guarantee ALL listings are scam-free. They list hundreds of jobs — all of which are either remote or flexible in nature — five days per week. There are also no ads on the site.

Because there are no ads, they do charge a membership fee since that is the only way they can see a return on their job-searching efforts. But it's cheap — you can sign up for for just a few dollars and get access for a few weeks to see the listings and figure out if it's for you.

If you sign up and don't like it, it's very easy to cancel right away so you are not billed again for the following month.
