top 10 online jobs for writersGuest Post by: Victoria Heckstall

Writing for money is a tough job. Writing for online publications is even harder. Even if you can avoid all of the scams, there’s still the matter of being paid fairly. The industry is trending towards paying writers less and less. Unfortunately, you’re a really good writer and you deserve more – most places don’t want to pay for quality work. You want to avoid those places and work with some of the best, most reliable, companies on the web.

CoffeeBreakForWriters.com publishes articles about the writing and publishing industry. If it will help your fellow writers, they’ll consider buying something from you. Pay is typically $15 for 500…

Working at Home for Apple

February 27, 2013 3 comments by

work at home for appleDid you know that Apple has a ton of people currently working from home for them? This came as a surprise to me initially. I did a quick search on their “Jobs” page and was honestly floored by how many virtual positions they actually do have available. While the work is location-based, there is no shortage of areas across the US where they are hiring.
What home jobs are available at Apple?
There are several different home-based jobs listed currently. Here’s what I’m seeing right now:

  • At-home Team Manager
  • At-home Advisor
  • Applecare At-home Advisor
  • At-home Japanese Team Manager
  • Agreement Admin At-home Advisor
  • Customer Relations – Tier 1

Pinecone Research Open to Registration

February 26, 2013 3 comments by

If you want to try to get signed up for Pinecone Research, registration appears to be open! This does NOT happen often, so I’m really excited to share this with you. If you’re not familiar with what Pinecone is, it’s a very popular paid survey panel that is pretty selective when it comes to applicants. They are considered by most to be “the best” paid survey panel out there.

They pay $3 a survey and unlike most other survey panels, they pay fast. If you have Paypal you will usually get the money by the next day. If you opt for check payments, they send it out within just a week. Pinecone is also known for doing fairly regular product testing, which you may also get paid for in addition…

Staying Focused When You Work at Home

February 25, 2013 12 comments by

staying focused when you work from homeI know that for me one of the biggest challenges I face while trying to work at home is staying focused. It’s so easy to get distracted by a zillion different things both online and offline. If you’re online, you’ll find yourself wanting to check your Facebook and email constantly. Housework and chaos coming from the kids are two of my biggest offline distractions.

There is no “right” way to handle these problems. No matter what you do, you’re always going to face some sort of distraction. However, there are lots of things that may help keep the distractions to a minimum and increase your focus so you’ll be much more productive.

quality-gal-now-hiringQuality Gal is currently looking for more freelance writers to add to their team. Many thanks to Jess Weaver, one of my readers and occasional guest posters, for alerting me to that fact! Quality Gal pays every single week. The pay varies depending on the type of article you’re doing, but apparently ranges between $6 and $28 per assignment.

The company just posted on WAHM.com advertising for writers the other day. The thread is about three pages long and as you can see, Quality Gal was great about responding to all questions/concerns posted in that thread. You can learn a lot about how this company works just from reading through that.

I also posted a review…

February 20, 2013 9 comments by

Daily work at home job leadsGood work from home job leads are really not that hard to find if you know where to look and, in the case of Craigslist, what to look for. Today’s post is a list of where to find the best work from home leads on the web. Some of these you may already be visiting regularly, but hopefully you’ll find a few new places to go as well. I know I forgot a few, so if you have your…

Get Money For Your Gift Cards With Plastic Jungle

February 19, 2013 4 comments by

get cash for your gift cardsUpdate May 15, 2013 – Plastic Jungle is no more. Fortunately, Plastic Jungle isn’t the only company that will buy your gift cards. I have a few more listed in my directory.

Have you ever gotten a gift card that you knew you probably would never use? For example, maybe someone gave you a Starbucks gift card but you’re not a big coffee drinker. Or maybe you got a gift card to a store that doesn’t have much you want to buy. You would rather just have the cash, right? I know I would when that happens!

Thanks to Plastic Jungle, you can sell your gift cards and get something you’ll actually use instead –…

Using Picket Fence to Get Traffic to Your Blog

February 14, 2013 7 comments by

I have had my blog registered at Picket Fence for quite a while. The way it works is pretty simple — you just sign up and fill out your blog details. Upload your blog button (if you have one) and put in a small description of what your blog is about. Then, you can paste the Picket Fence blog button onto your website somewhere. If anyone clicks the button, that counts as a virtual “vote” for your website on Picket Fence. The more votes you have, the higher your blog will rank in their enormous list of blogs. Supposedly the higher your blog ranks in the list, the more traffic you will likely receive. Your blog needs to fit…
