Bookkeeping and Accounting Work at Home Jobs

I’ve been asked before about options for bookkeeping/accounting work at home so I decided to make a list of some opportunities that fall within that category today.

These companies are typically going to require that you have had some schooling and/or prior experience in the bookkeeping field. The following companies may or may not be hiring right now:

AccountingDeparment.com

AccountingDeparment.com has a few work at home accounting positions open currently, including a full charge bookkeeper and a CPA/Controller. A lot of experience is required to be considered for these positions.

Balance Your Books

Balance Your Books hires remote bookkeepers. You need an AA degree or equivalent as well as two or more years of bookkeeping experience to be considered for employment.

Bookminders

To work for Bookminders, you must have a four-year degree as well as at least five years of accounting experience. It says on the site that this opportunity is not for people outside of the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia areas, so it’s very location-based.

ClickAccounts

I can’t find a lot of info about the employment opportunity on ClickAccounts, but they do occasionally hire independent contractors to do bookkeeping from home. They provide an email address on their “Careers” page so you can contact them to learn more.

TAD Accounting

TAD Accounting is not hiring right now, but it may be a good idea to watch for when they open it back up. You need two years experience in accounting to be eligible for employment here.

IgniteSpot Outsourced Accounting

To be eligible for employment at IgniteSpot, you have to have at least five years of experience as well as an accounting degree. Their goal is to match excellent accountants with their clients who have accounting needs they are unable to take care of in-house.

Start Your Own Bookkeeping Business From Home

Another idea of course is to start your own bookkeeping business. This way you can set your own hours and get paid what you want to make. WAHM has an article posted with more details on how to go about this.
