Update Dec. 9, 2012 – The Garb panel is gone. Sorry! You can go here for more product testing opportunities.
GARB Online is a product testing panel that pays you to test out clothing from major manufacturers. I decided to write a little about this one today because it’s sort of unique. Most other product test panels want to send you food, household stuff, and so on. Anyway, while not a “job” this is probably a fun little side earner worthy of mention.
How much does GARB Online pay for clothing tests? The cash amount for project rewards could be anywhere from a few dollars up to $100. There are also sometimes projects that don’t offer cash rewards but instead give sweepstakes entries. Your participation is optional of course. I personally tend to avoid surveys of any type that are only going to reward me with a sweepstakes entry (unless the survey also involves a product to test and keep).
How long does it take to get the money? According to the GARB website, you should allow 2 to 4 weeks for your payment to come. They pay by check.
Do all the surveys involve clothing to test? No. Some of the surveys are just surveys. You might be asked to look at the clothes online and give your opinion or just answer questions about your taste in clothes. Some of these non-product test surveys will also offer a cash reward. There may also be focus groups you can join, chat discussions, and other things like that.
What does GARB stand for? GARB stands for “Great Apparel Research Board.”
Is this company actually legit? GARB has been around for a long time and I’ve never read anything negative on them. I did sign up for their panel a long time ago and got a few surveys from them but never got time to complete most of them. It seems like I may have also gotten a survey that led to a product test, but I think I didn’t qualify for it. If you have experience with GARB, please chime in and let me know about it!
