Get Paid For Driving With AdSmart

You can get paid for driving through a company called AdSmart Outdoor Advertising! The incentives for this sound pretty appealing. There are two options:
- Sign up and get either a free new Nissan Xterra or Volkswagon Beetle to drive wrapped with an ad.
- If you already own a car, let them wrap it with an ad and get paid $350 per month for driving it.
So as you can see, this would be great for people in need of a car and also for people who already have one. While this sounds perfect, there is some fine print. Oh, and no worries about the ad damaging your car if you opt to use your own. It supposedly comes right off with no damage. It’s just some plastic/vinyl thing.
Some More Details
Here are a few more things you should be aware of before deciding to immediately jump on board with this:
- You are responsible for your own fuel and insurance. If you’re driving their car instead of yours, you have to buy insurance through them to make sure the vehicle is properly insured. No idea how expensive this could be, so keep that in mind.
- You must agree to drive the car around at least 1100 miles per month. This is so they can be sure their ad is getting the right amount of visibility.
- You have to meet with an AdSmart rep once a month to have your mileage checked and your GPS unit (which I am guessing they install if you don’t have one).
- You have to promise to wash the car at least twice a month
- You have to return the car (if you got one from them) when the advertising period is up. If the ad is on your car, they will remove the ad when the ad period is up.
Who can sign up?
You must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and insurance (if you’re using your own car). Also, you can’t have had more than two moving violations in the past year and a half. You also must be the primary driver of the vehicle you submit when you apply.
You must live within 50 miles of these metropolitan areas to be considered: Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, DE, Washington, DC, New York, NY, or Baltimore, MD. So unfortunately this particular company can’t be open to everyone in the US.
How long does the ad period last?
The ad period ranges and could last anywhere from 6 to 24 months.
What I Think
I’ve heard a lot about these “paid to drive” programs and they are legit although from what I understand there’s a lot of competition for it so getting selected is no sure thing. Still it may be worth a try. Getting $350 a month for doing what you’re already doing is nothing to sneeze at. And if you don’t have a car, it would be a nice way to get a nice new one to drive around temporarily.
