Stella and Dot is another direct selling company. They specialize in jewelry, which they describe as a step above costume jewelry although not quite fine jewelry. Stella and Dot does have some pieces made of 24 and 14 kt gold, sterling silver, and they also use semi-precious stones. They have been around since 2006, and their stuff is nice enough that they already have several celebrities that wear their jewelry.

Is it worth it?

There are quite a few people who are happy selling Stella & Dot, and the jewelry is fantastic! I think the $59 renewal fee every year isn’t so great since I haven’t seen too many other direct sales companies that charge this. I guess it just depends. Their jewelry is nicer than Premier, but Premier gives a better commission rate. On the flip side, Stella and Dot is fairly new, which means that there aren’t too many consultants out there to give a person who signed up competition.

Cool! It does sound like Stella & Dot would be the one to go with. I didn’t know until recently about Premier’s application and renewal fees. Pricey!! Good luck, and please come back and comment after you’ve started with how it’s going for you.

I just wanted to add that I am currently looking into seriously joining Stella & Dot. I have researched a couple other companies and have found this one to be the best by far. Its true there is a $59 renewal fee, but Premier has a $350 application fee AND a yearly renewal fee of $350. They dont offer nearly as much as far as training, website, etc.. and you have to find a way to accept credit cards. Not to mention the market is saturated with Premier consultants…

I know this is a rather old post, but I still feel like I have to reply.

I’m a Premier consultant and I have to disagree with you about the training. Plethora of training available. There’s training on the Premier designs jeweler website, there are also senior leader websites, calls that are done almost daily for you to participate in, local training in most areas (within an hour away, just depends on if there are any leaders in the area), and we have 2 rally’s a year (a regional in Jan and national in July).

As for the early renewal fee it is that price because of the amazing services that it covers. A couple of those services are the individual packaging of each home show. Which means the customer jewelry will be sorted and placed in a bag with your name on it and each individual items that they got. All of those individual packages will then be put into the one big box which is shipped to the hostess and the hostess will then be able to easily deliver that all of her friends. The annual renewal fee also includes free shipping for any of your personal order that $20 CV or more. There are several other things that this $350 in your renewal fee includes and it is for services. I am curious as to what that $59 renewal fee covers for you? Having a renewal fee is a good thing because it helps ensure that the business is being worked as a business and it is not a buyers club.
